3 of 4 people found this review helpful Marigold is a dull, slow and badly paced Bollywood soap opera with flat characterisations and badly telegraphed plot points with sporadically listless songs (Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy) thrown in for good measure...

2 of 3 people found this review helpful Salman gives a controlled performance, bordering on the soporofic, while Ali Larter breezes across confidently as the all-American miss. A bit more energy and the film could have been a sweet crossover romance. But then, haven't we seen enough of the half-baked versions of desi-pardesi couplings.

2 of 3 people found this review helpful Some scenes are so predictable that you have a feeling of deja vu. Like for example, when Barry (Ian Bohen), Marigold's boyfriend, meets with Prem in a bar. And when Prem takes him to his home, and when Barry and Marigold meet in the washroom. Also the saath pheras...

The basic plot of 'Marigold' boasts of a romantic comedy wherein the film industry is kept as a backdrop. An American actress Marigold, played by Ali Carter gets stuck in India. Worse that, she is out of money...

If this is Salman Khan's first Hollywood effort, help! He dances at the Taj (monument, not hotel), he dances in a disco, he dances in his dreams, he dances in your nightmare – as if he was auditioning for Nach Baliye.

1 of 1 people found this review helpful It's hard to believe that a Hollywood production chose a script that's straight out of the 1980s. The plot goes awry; the screenplay and dialogues get so nerve-wrecking that it even makes K C Bokadia seem like Copolla...

What follows is your average Bollywood soap opera that is as original as a self painted Mona Lisa. What the director had in mind was a cross culture adventure exploring the nuances of an a exotic land. But the experience is like finding sambar being served at a Chinese buffet.

'Marigold – An Adventure in India' is not even close to an average Bollywood romantic drama. Firstly, the storyline is very flimsy. On top of it, Willard Carroll's treatment of the subject reminds you of TV soap operas.

"I don't see for myself, a long career in Bollywood" Ali Larter says in one scene. She couldn't be more right. With films like this, even Salman Khan's career is going down the wrong lane. Believe me, when I say that this movie is a waste of time...

1 of 1 people found this review helpful Marigold has nothing to catch your attention. The first quarter of the film is spent in demonstrating the flaws in Marigold, the character. While the second half is about the union of the two lovers, Marigold and Prem. The movie drags to such an extent that the threshold of elasticity is lost...

They should have done something to pep the script up, considering the acting was pretty much going to be flat or over the top. Oh right! Music was the supposed solution to this problem - a break in the monotony. In the director's own words, "Music, of course, was the key part of the story of MARIGOLD".

Marigold fails miserably on all fronts.
The film is directionless. Carrol seems more interested in roping in all the elements and styles, which he perhaps picked up from the 150 different Bollywood films he saw, rather than placing things in the right position.
