Kaafila attempts to deal with the problem of illegal human trafficking but remains an amateurish effort on many counts. A group of people including Aman (Amitoj) leave their motherland dreaming about a better future on foreign shores.

'Kaafila' has an interesting subject. But the writers and director have failed to translate it into an engrossing story. The dialogues are banal. The music is ordinary. And the direction by Amitoj Mann is amateurish.

A mysterious man called Sameer (Sunny Deol), an Afghan freedom fighter (Sana Nawaz) turn up to help. There’s a cache of diamonds changing hands too.
The few that survive take a wrong turn and land up in Afghanistan and after fighting people of just about every nationality (border guards are conspicuously absent) are jailed in Pakistan...

The true brain drain lies in putting together this pastiche of parodic passion where the anguish of the characters is completely overshadowed by the desperation of the audience to get out of the hellish hijinks of a journey that takes the characters from the villages of Punjab to the frozen snowscape of lands where this film should be buried.

Did you know why illegal immigrants want to live abroad? Apparently, because they love their families and want to make them rich back home. Interestingly, in the film, they don't bother to make any phone calls or write any letters despite the fact that they are stranded in Russia for at least six months.

No, this film is not about duped immigrants. This film will deal with the Malta boat tragedy merged with a tsunami, then there is the involvement with the Russian Mafia and they chance upon liquid plutonium (which looks like pudina chutney)...
