Prayag Raj’s biggest hit as director was Coolie (1983) which he also co-scripted. But since the distributors would have paid half the sum per territory compared to what it would get if Manmohan Desai was billed with him, the credits ran, ‘Directed by Prayag Raj & Manmohan Desai’. Coolie was conceived from one of the characters in a Prayag Raj script that never took off.
