Laxmikant Pyarelal worked with RK Camp for the first time in the movie Bobby, displacing the favorites Shankar Jaikishan. But it was not an ouster for the old RK favourites as the people would like to believe. Jaikishan's death in 1971 was a major emotional blow to Raj Kapoor. He believed that without Jaikishan, his other half Shankar was incomplete. And that is why he opted for the rising Laxmikant Pyarelal and their music became so popular that even Narendra Chanchal became popular for a while.
