a very nice short, sweet and cute love story.the pairing of actor's like Boman Irani and Farah Khan make the movie unique in it's own way.the story of the film seems to be seen number of times in Hindi Cinema still you don't realise that while watching the film and you just go on enjoying.Farah has made an impressive debut as an actor.Boman as usual is amazing.Bela the first time Director has done a good job.music is good when the songs are playing in background as the sweet voices don't suit the actor's in the film.it also shows that there is no age bar to fall in love.overall a very good muvie.simple yet good to watch.this one is recommended.

What is our first impression of a person who is 35 or 40 , very successful in his profession,…
What is our first impression of a person who is 35 or 40 , very successful in his profession, happy-go-lucky but is unmarried?! Of course, the first thing that crosses our mind is either he/she’s divorced/widowed and if not that’s not the case, then ‘something is wrong with that person’! After all, how can he not find a partner yet?! The unmarried person, meanwhile, has to face uncomfortable questions about his single status from his peers and mostly older relatives (married ones, of course) every now and then. The fact that he’s successful professionally and passionate about his work doesn’t mean anything to the society! He/she’s not married till now and that’s not done! Over-enthusiastic aunties, and even uncles, go on a ‘mission’ to find a perfect match for the person and won’t rest until they succeed. That their married life is messed up is another matter though! But this is how our society works and Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi throws beautiful light on these goings-on! Add to this the comic moments and Farah Khan and Boman Irani’s cute performance and Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi becomes an ideal entertainer! The story of the movie: Farhad Pastakia (Boman Irani), 45, lives in Mumbai’s Cusrow Baug with his ‘over-loving’ mother Nargis (Daisy Irani) and grandmother (Shammi). He’s unmarried and his efforts of finding true love are futile. Possibly, because of his profession – he works as a saleman in ‘Tem Tem Bra and Panty Store’! His family and relatives pressurize him to get married regularly and Farhad is fed up of the drama. However, one day, he meets Shirin Fugawala (Farah Khan) and sparks start flying. What’s more, Shirin is single and develops feelings for Farhad too. However, problems arise when Nargis realizes that Farhad is her ‘enemy’! To find out why that is so and what happens next, go for Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi! Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi incorporates a lot in 112 minutes. In fact, it’s astonishing how director Bela Sehgal was able to pack in so much in less than 2 hours. Moreover, the pace is just perfect – neither too slow, nor too swift! The film depicts a cute portrayal of the Parsis (at times over-the-top though) which is a treat to watch! Farhad’s dilemma comes out beautifully. Your heart goes out to Mr Pastakia! The cutesy moments shared by Shirin-Farhad are one of the highlights of the film. Unfortunately, the film does falter at places. The ‘passing gas’ scene and the one in climax involving Farhad and his neighbours seemed totally unwanted and wasn’t that funny either. But thankfully, the cute and touching moments in the film compensate for these shortcomings. Also, the climax, which was just brilliant! Farah Khan is a known figure and it’s been a pleasure to see her interviews and also in various reality shows. However, we never realized that she is immensely beautiful with a very pretty smile. Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi gives a chance to see this side of Farah! And as expected from the promos, she does a brilliant job. In fact, the character of Shirin Fugawala was tailor made for her and I doubt if any other actor of Bollywood could have done such a fine job! She claimed that she won’t be acting any more, unless she gets a script as good as Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi. Hope she comes across such a script soon! Boman Irani, as everytime, is delightful! The actor moves you with his brilliant portrayal of a 45-year-old-unmarried person. Also, it was a treat to watch him dance and play the lover boy in songs and in several sequences in the film as well. Easily one of his finest performances! Daisy Irani was flawless while Shammi was very cute. Kevin Dave (Boman’s colleague) didn’t have much to do sadly. Soli Marker (as Feroze, Indira Gandhi’s lover) was too good. His was a very novel character and a big thank you to Censor Board for not playing spoilsport! Mahabanoo Mody Kotwal (Farah’s aunt) plays her part as well and so does Rushad Rana (Hormuz). Same can be said for the actors who play Boman’s aunt and Farah’s father. The actual Parsi actors like Kurush Deboo, Sorab Ardeshir, Dinyar Contractor, Dinyar Tirandaz and others make special appearances in the fim. Lastly, the film also features the very gorgeous Nauheed Cyrusi (as Anaita)! Sadly, she doesn’t have much to do in the film. It’s high time we see her back as a leading lady! Songs (Jeet Gannguly) weren’t needed in the film. Yet, one doesn’t mind as the songs are well-shot and well-composed and also don’t act as obstacles in the narrative. All songs are worthy. Khatti Meethi and Ishq Mein Tere Bina are soulful while Rhamba Mein Samba is energetic and the best song of the lot. Title song too is peppy while Kaafir Andhere is beautifully shot. Omung Kumar-Vanita Kumar’s production design was quite authentic be it Farah-Boman’s house or the Parsi Trust Hospital. Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Muncher Wadia’s screenplay and dialogue is praiseworthy. Some of the dialogues are too funny, esp ‘Farhad ka murga jaag gaya’! Bela Bhansali Sehgal’s story-direction too deserves brownie points. The debutant director beautifully brings out the Parsi nuances and also the problems faced by unmarried people in their 40s. Few scenes seemed unnecessary but overall, it was fine effort! Some of the best scenes: 1. Farhad’s introduction 2. Farhad meets his relatives 3. Shirin meets Farhad 4. Shirin-Farhad at Parsi Trust Matrimonial Social 5. Shirin-Farhad’s first date 6. Shirin at Farhad’s place 7. Farhad at Shirin’s place (hilarious!) 8. The annual meeting (madness!) 9. All songs in the film 10. The climax On the whole, Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi is a well-made entertainer that his it’s heart at the right place. The promos gave out the right message and vibes and generated excitement amongst the viewers. However, it didn’t translate into good numbers on Day 1. Hopefully, the film will pick up with the positive word of mouth. It’s embellished with beautiful moments with the humour and Farah-Boman’s performance as the added bonus. Surely, a film that needs to be seen, nurtured and remembered for long!
