Meet the girl who plays Prem Ka Game Click here to add this article to My Clips

By Screen Weekly, May 1, 2009 - 08:43 IST

Madhuri Bhattacharya Madhuri Bhattacharrya, who has done two films in the South, is lucky to be debuting with Prem Kaa Game wherein she plays Arbaaz Khan's love interest

Launch Vehicle
Prem Kaa Game is loosely based on Marilyn Monroe's film The Seven-Year Itch and I play the role that Monroe played. The film has almost all of the Khan family in it and as a new comer, I honestly couldn't have asked for more.

Casting Coup
I got my first film when I was in Bengaluru. I was presenting an award at an event and my producer Ashok Kheny was also present. He is by far one of the most respected individuals in the entire city and it was an honour for me to be a part of his film.

Stepping-Stone
I've represented my state in Hindi poetry and have written plays. My Kannada films and TV commercials have given me all the required training. I also won the Miss Bangalore title after which I went on to win the Miss South India Kingfisher hunt. I've modelled for about two hundred brands including Microsoft, Spice Telecom, etc. My two Kannada films Khushi and Bisi Bisi did really well and that is when I decided to move to Mumbai.

First Shot
I absolutely love the camera and being in front of it brings me more happiness than nervousness. Arbaaz is the best co-star one could have asked for and he made sure I was comfortable throughout. Our friendship and comfort level shows in the film and that is something I value immensely. The first shot for the film was a crazy one, in which I wear a revealing night-suit. Arbaaz plays my neighbour in the film and the shot required me to show up at his house late in the night. Initially it was slightly embarassing, but then things fell into place.

Stumbling Block
I am just starting out so I wouldn't like to call it a struggle. I believe that they are like pit-stops on the way to winning a race. Like they say, "Smile at your troubles and confuse them".

Lessons Learnt
I've been in Mumbai for a bit and I have learnt to be careful. People from smaller cities tend to take things at face-value and I have learnt to double-check and be sure about everything. Also, you need to do your homework. It is very important that you know the length of your role. Mumbai has also taught me that you need to do the best you can to seize the opportunity. You won't always get what you want or wish, but you will at least be content that you did the best you could. There is a lot of waiting involved because you don't always get the best role. You need to be patient and positive.

Matinee Idol
As far as idols go, I've always been a die-hard Madhubala fan and I am proud to share my name with Madhuri Dixit. Among the newer lot, I really like Priyanka Chopra. I love the way she has handled her career and she totally inspires me. Deepika Padukone and I are both from Bengaluru, so I am very happy for her too.

Future Projects
Right now, I am using the time before the release as constructively as possible. I am trying to get into perfect shape by eating healthy. I can't say anything more about my future projects, but I am loving the countdown to the release.
