His first two films Kyun !Ho Gaya Na and Nanhe Jaisalmer may not have worked at the B.O. but director Samir Karnik is mighty upbeat about his latest multistarrer, Heroes. The film, which stars biggies like Sunny Deol, Salman Khan, Preity Zinta, Mithun Chakraborty and Bobby Deol to name a few, opened across cinema halls last Friday. The young and talented director was on Bollywood Hungama's Celebrity Chat to interact with his fans and for all those who missed this exciting chat session here are the excerpts:-

Samir Karnik: Don...Salman bhai is entertainment galore....

Charla: Hello Mr. Karnik, The promos look fantastic and I am going to see your film this weekend! I loved Nanhe and I know I will love this film too! What has been your inspiration to make this film?
Samir Karnik: Charla....I took a road trip 15 years ago and it was a journey of a life
time for me...Its the same road-trip that these boys take that changes them forever.
Mayank: your film Heroes promo is very good.
Samir Karnik: Thank you Mayank...Hopefully you will feel the same about the movie and do let me know.
Farhan: hi. What is ur upcoming film?
Samir Karnik: Farhan...right now its Heroes...after that planning a film next year.
Don: Taran gave a very good review for the film... did u read it?
Samir Karnik: Yes don....I read it and completely loved it.

Fenil Seta: Who do you think gave the best performance in HEROES?
Samir Karnik: All my children are the same to me Fenil...No parent can say which child is his favorite.
Farhan: how was it working with Priety.
Samir Karnik: Farhan...Preity is the most professional person I have ever seen....She had memorized the whole script and had done research months before we started shooting...She is the best I have worked with.
Preity_is_best: how long is Preity's part in the movie?
Samir Karnik: Pretty has a long enough role...enough to make you cry and feel good.

Mayank: why did u choose Salman in singh role?
Samir Karnik: I narrated the whole story to Salman bhai....and told him I wanted him for Balkar Singh's role...He found the character novel and said YES immediately...
Charla: If not a director then what would you have become?
Samir Karnik: A chef...Charla...I love cooking.
Charla: Do you have any regrets in life?
Samir Karnik: Zindagi Bahut Chotti Hai Charla...Regret ke liye waqt hi nahin milta.

Dolly_ILU: i have read the preview of heroes on this website and it looks like a VERY COOL concept to me, not the usual Bollywood drama. That's excellent!
Samir Karnik: Dolly....I appreciate your comments...and if you liked the preview I am sure you will love the film.
Obi: What are your plans for the future? More multi-starrers? Different themes? What?
Samir Karnik: I am a multi-starrer person...and many more varied themes to cover Obi.
Fenil Seta: How does it feel to be a producer?
Samir Karnik: Being a producer always helps because you can control things and the film shapes up the way you want it to shape up.
Fenil Seta: Don't you feel your film will face tough competition from ROADSIDE ROMEO, GOLMAAL RETURNS and FASHION?
Samir Karnik: All 3 different genres of films Fenil...and I am sure all are good in their own way. Let's hope we score a little better
Preity_is_best: do you feel more confident abt Heroes then your last 2 films and why?
Samir Karnik: Nothing like that...I feel the same about each of my films...Hope for the best this time around.
Dolly_ILU: recent movies of Salman Khan haven't worked. Do u think your film will be his lucky charm?
Samir Karnik: Salman bhai is too big for me to be his lucky charm...He may be mine.
Farhan: I am going for your movie.. First day first show in London today.. How do u find Kareena Kapoor as an actress?
Samir Karnik: Farhan...thank you ...I hope you enjoy it...Do write back...and as for Kareena...she is pretty good as an actress.
Ram: when is Roshan releasing?
Samir Karnik: Ram...Roshan is releasing early next year.
Anu: How did you get into the film industry?
Samir Karnik: Anu....I was studying International Relations in America and suddenly realized that I wanted to make a film...I came back and assisted Vinod Chopra on Kareeb...Then went to Africa for a holiday...Liked the place and stayed back for 3 years....Wrote a script there and then came back to meet the actors...I used to write letters to them to get an appointment and then they agreed...they heard the script and that's how my first film Kyun! Ho Gaya Na got made.
Anu: do you feel storylines are very weak in Hindi cinema and producers/directors only concentrate on the aesthetic appeal?
Samir Karnik: Anu...i don't agree ...sometimes a good story told in a bad way also loses out.
Dolly_ILU: who in the film industry is your role model?
Samir Karnik: Dolly...I don't really have any role models but I really like a director- Mukul Anand.

Mac: what is your dream project? Please tell me!
Samir Karnik: Mac....I have a concept and just waiting to accumulate the star cast which I want it to be India's largest, biggest modern day action adventure. Something likes Armageddon.

Samir Karnik: fuad...its an action thriller...a robbery based film...a popcorn flick

Samir Karnik: saub...I also want to contribute towards my country and do what I can do best.
Charla: If you were to make the ultimate love story of today's time, who would you cast as the hero and heroine?
Samir Karnik: Charla...Newcomers are always a good bet for a love story because there are no pre-conceived notions about them.
Kash: I liked Nanhe Jaisalmer. Loved the colors of Rajasthan and the little boy.
