Shreyas Talpade visits Mumbai GPO to write letters
By Bollywood Hungama News Network, September 18, 2008 - 12:49 IST

Much before Pankaj Udhas sang the highly emotional 'Chhitti Aayi Hai', there was a song which was an essential element on everybody's lips, which went as 'Daakiya daak laaya'. Both the songs had one element in common, 'Post'. Circa 2008: Here, Bollywood residents do not sing songs about post and postmen. Instead, they become postmen themselves! Pioneering this trend was the multitalented Shreyas Talpade, who, landed up at the Mumbai GPO became Mahadev for a couple of hours. Mahadev? Well, that's the name of his character in his forthcoming film Welcome To Sajjanpur, in which he plays the role of a letter writer. This film is being directed by Shyam Benegal.
Shreyas braved the sweltering heat and even the bird droppings, and wrote letters for the people out there and earned a princely sum of Rs. 10 per letter! He also conversed with Shakeel Ahmed, a real life letter writer about his livelihood etc. Speaking about this unique experience, Shreyas said, "I enjoyed playing Mahadev in the film, and now performing the same act in real life is more fun. It is interesting to see that even today at this age of mails and text messages, there are people who are dependant on letters to reach out their loved ones. This is one of my most memorable experiences''.
Talk about taking 'Method Acting' to a different level altogether!
