Flying high with Kaveri Jha

An air hostess and model, the 5'8" striking Kaveri Jha now makes her debut in Kunal Shivdasani's Hijack

In Hijack I play a rich, classy girl who is on the lookout for true love and finds it in Shiney Ahuja. The film is a high-action emotional drama about a plane hijack and I bring the romance and softness to it.
Casting coup
When I heard that director Kunal Shivdasani was on the lookout for a girl to play Shiney's wife, I went to meet him. He thought I fitted the part and asked me to audition. After two auditions, in which I enacted some scenes from the film I was selected. Shiney also approved of me!
Stepping-stone
I was always sure, even as a young girl, that I wanted to be part of the glamour world. I participated in the Miss India contest in 2005 and won the Miss US choice. Soon modelling offers poured in, and I even went on to do two Telugu films. Presently I also fly with Air-India as cabin crew.
First shot
Our first day of shoot was in Lonavala, where montages with Shiney and me setting up our home were shot. In the first shot Shiney had to fix up the name-plate on the front door and the scene required him to put it at an angle after which there is a small mushy act. Of course there were butterflies in my stomach, but Shiney was very helpful and the shot was okayed pretty soon.
Stumbling block
Thankfully it has been a smooth journey for me and I have not seen any ugly side of the industry that can disillusion or dishearten me.
Lessons learnt
Since the one last year that I have been part of Bollywood I have realised that one has to be very mature, if one wants to be here for a long time! Mature in the sense that one should be smart enough to know that there are different kinds of people here and should know how to behave with each.
Matinee idol
For me there's no one better than Shah Rukh Khan - he's so perfect! His attitude, the way he carries himself in public, his concern for his family, and of course, he's the best actor around!
Future plans
I still fly with Air-India and am doing my ad campaigns. I have also completed Na Girlfriend Bagarich, a Telegu film which releases in October! There are offers for Hindi films too but I am waiting for Hijack to release before I decide which will be my next project.
