Nakuul Mehta, the youngster who would be making his debut as a lead hero in Haal-e- Dil, still can't get over the first shot that he gave.
It was the day of the 'muhurat' and there were bigwigs ranging from Raj Kumar Santoshi to Anurag Kashyap to Vishal Bhardwaj to Ajay Devgan and Kajol who were present on the occasion. No wonder, Nakuul is doubly enthralled because he managed to 'pass with flying colors' in spite of a heavy weight presence.
"You have big dreams about how you would go about in front of the camera for your debut film. You come up with big ideas. You want to impress", exclaims Nakuul who isn't quite showing the nervous pangs of a newcomer in spite of a dozen odd other youngsters of his clan trying to make their presence felt in the current season.
"Suddenly you are faced with a situation when you have to make things happen", talks Nakuul about his first shot in front of the camera, "It was a surreal moment to have my parents on the sets monitoring me closely. Then there were Ajay Devgan and Kajol behind the camera with none other than Raj Kumar Santoshi calling 'action'. It was THE moment and I said to myself - 'Boss, the dream of over; Welcome to the real world.'"
Needless to say the shot went on fine, though Nakuul still hasn't forgotten his golden moment.
"The feeling can never be replicated", confesses the young boy who has been seen in countless commercials in the past, "There are so many eyes judging each and every move, each and every expression of yours. I had the kind of feeling in my stomach that I had never experienced before. I can't explain how enthralled I was the moment my shot was through and there were cheers all around."
He wasn't alone in front of the camera though since Amita Pathak, his co-star and daughter of producer Kumar Mangat, shared the shot too.
"Ya, she was there too and came through the situation fine", agrees Nakuul, "However, she was still better off than me. See, she has grown up in front of people like Ajay and Kajol and belongs to the film fraternity while I am just making an entry. But obviously, the confidence/comfort level had to differ. In any case, what matters is the way it ends and I am happy that the first shot went on fine. After that it was a cakewalk to shoot for the rest of the film!"
