"Working with SRK gives a bounce to your career" - Vidya Malavade

Vidya Malavade debuted with the Vikram Bhatt film Inteha. She has been reintroduced by Yash Raj films in their recently released
film Chak De India.
Vidya has been highly appreciated for her performance in Chak De India. She was live on IndiaFM celebrity chat where she
interacted with her fans and talked about Chak De India, her other films and personal life. Heres bringing you the transcript of the chat.
Garg : Hi Vidya, How are you doing?
Vidya Malavade : im doing very well thank u
Bhakti : R u a hockey player???
Vidya Malavade : I wasnt before but yes now i am
Coke : you were very sexy in chak de
Vidya Malavade : thank u very much. but i was supposed to be a simple girl, i thought i managed that in real im sexy but not as vidya
sharma in the film.
Celinarvind : any next movie?
Vidya Malavade : im doing kidnap opposite sanjay dutt directed by sanjay gadhvi n junction with abhay deol n ranveer shorey
Bhakti : wat made u to sign this film??
Vidya Malavade : I loved the script of chak de, i knew it was a winner and the fact that i wld learn something new.
Vin : when are you coming to london?
Vidya Malavade : hoping to come there real soon!
Hinu : how did it feel working with king khan? Hws he as co star?
Vidya Malavade : mind blowing experience. srk is amazing. just by him being in the same frame with me, he made me look good n
perform better.

Vidya Malavade : my phone hasnt stopped ringing after chak de india. technically im very tired, theres no time for myself anymore but i am just
so happy. i have waited for this for a very long time. im basking in the glory now |
ssk : do u think ur film inteha was a good start of ur career?
Vidya Malavade : i learnt a lot from inteha though it didnt do very well. but i think thas just how bollywood is. u never know what
happens on a friday, u just hope for the best.
fayazoso : u look gorgeous in saree n the party scene jst before the climax of chakde India.
Vidya Malavade : thank u so much. the saree scene was the only time when we got to do a little bit of make up n actually look like
women. so we completely enjoyed that from the normal track pants.
TheDil : do you think that Yash Raj has reintroduced you thru chak de....ur comment.
Vidya Malavade : thats exactly what mr. aditya chopra said when i was signing the film. he said look at this film as ur relaunch.
ssk : IS it true that you have signed a deal with Yash Raj and you will be doing their one more film in future? Pls tell us abt it?
Vidya Malavade : i dont know about this, but pls keep ur fingers crossed too
balbir_kaur : hw was it wrking with Yash Raj? r u doin any YR film ?
ritesh : hi vidya, r u maharashrtian right ?
Vidya Malavade : yes i am very much a maharashtrian.
TheDil : after success in modeling how is your exp. in movies?
Vidya Malavade : modelling is great, i started there n i will always love it. but its very different, u dont have to buy a ticket to watch an
ad film. in movies you actally spent money to watch it n to give audiences the worth of money they spent is a fantastic feeling
Bhakti : whom did u got along well during the shoot??
Vidya Malavade: i got along well with everybody. but i was more friends with preeti sabarwal, komal |
Bhakti : n how was ur experience working wid other girls??
Vidya Malavade : very nice. this was the first time that i worked with a bunch of girls. there was a great bonding. lot of girly stuff, make
up tips, shopping together. it was like having many sisters.
Renjithbr : hi vidya... cangrats for doing a great job in chak de?
Vidya Malavade : thank u very much
Karan : Hey Vidya, really loved how comfortable you were in underplaying your character in Chak De. Unlike other newcomers in the
industry, u looked so terrifically secure and just happy to be the character. How'd u manage that? Very admirable
Vidya Malavade : good question karan. i really tried to underplay this character n try n get strenght n resilience coz i dont have too
many lines as such n so i had to do it totally with my eyes face n body language. i thgt nobody mighte not even notice me as many scenes of
mine are deleted from the film. but the effort of underplaying it worked coz i didnt want vidya to be overtop. her silence worked.
| nitesh_CHAK DE : heard that u girls called SRK 'Papa' on the
sets? true??????
Vidya Malavade : yea, we did call him papa. that was a little something between us. |
Renjithbr : when can we see you next ?
Vidya Malavade : my next film will come out by end of this yr or next yr.
TheDil : have you plans to come germany?
Vidya Malavade : i used to come to germany for thrice a week once coz i used to fly with lufthanza. i'd love to be back.
Niki : are you getting any good offers after the release of Chak De? hws people reacting to ur role?
Vidya Malavade : yes i am getting offers. i am looking at scripts now. people r just screaming n yelling and dancing in theatres. the
nicest compliment i got was somebody who came up to me n said "thank god u saved the last goal. u made us win". im so glad to see
everybody so involved.
saral : wht kinds of role your getting ? is there any rle in ur mind?
Vidya Malavade : i want to do different kinds of roles n not get stuck in a rut n thats how i will select them from now. for me its about
playing different characters.
celinarvind : are u doing any commercial post chak de.
Vidya Malavade : i was under a contract for chak de so i stopped doing everything else. but i just shot for an underwater ad film few
days ago. and i want to do a lot more of ad films coz thats where i started.
TheDil : do you have your website?
Vidya Malavade : not yet, but will come up soon.
Karan : Hey Vidya, loved how comfortably understated your performance was. Your sex appeal is very different and quite phenomenal I
must say. Loved you in Inteha too.
Vidya Malavade : thank u so much karan.

Vidya Malavade : i am a dancer n i have learnt from kathak to tap to ballet to latin american dancing. so i'd love to show that talent
onscreen too. hopefully in the future sometime :)
nitesh_CHAK DE : which was the frst ad u signed??how dd tht happen?
Vidya Malavade : my first ad film was videocon bazoomba tv. somebody called me from sprite n said the audition is happening at
famous studio. i entered the wrong door n the lady there said, sprite is happening next door, this is videocon, finish the sprite n come back
here, we'd like to audition u n i got both the ads that day

Vidya Malavade : no justine. the script was already written n they jus needed characters to fit the role n they found me for vidya sharma

Vidya Malavade : I think love is the most beautiful emotion of ones life and everybody shld experience it

Vidya Malavade : 2nd of march n i am born n brought up in mumbai city

Vidya Malavade : its a dream to work with yrf. they are ne of the biggest production houses in india and they have made some great
films in the past. so its a nice experience

been some rivarly between you girls to perform better.
Vidya Malavade : no rivalry as such. being a senior to the rest of the girls, the only thing i cld do is encourage them to do better. thats
the only thing that worked for me as well, n if all of us do our best, it works for the film

Vidya Malavade : no, i did my debut with inteha directed by vikram bhatt

Vidya Malavade : totally marathi
| Tasnim : How do u rate urself as an actor after 'Chak de' Do u
think just working with SRK will give a new direction to career or is it acting skills which will fetch u roles in future???
Vidya Malavade : working with srk definitely gives a bounch to ur career but without acting skills u will bounce n fall flat on the floor. so scting
skills is what will take u far. n to be natural in front of the camera is my forte. i believe in understated n subtle
performances |
nitesh_CHAK DE : Which recent hindi film have u liked???
Vidya Malavade : i liked dor by nagesh kukunoor, rang de basanti n munnabhi of course.

nitesh_CHAK DE : any memorable incidents happened on CDI sets which u wud like to share?
Vidya Malavade : quite a few. this one time b4 the wrap of the film at melbourne, we did a small show for srk from his film don. he was
very happy that he came n he also started dancing with us

Vidya Malavade : really? i also want to do golmaal 2. i am doing a film with ashtavinayak so hope i get that also

Vidya Malavade : good question my dear. it was extremely difficult. initially i thgt i was walking on the moon rather waddling. so
starting from there to running n then diving in those pads was quite an improvement, so much that i did all the dives n saves myself, without a
double

Vidya Malavade : i regret not being one. i wish in schooli cld get an opportunity to play some kind of sport. my kids will be born with
hockey sticks
farha : who was your favourite chak de girl? on sets and off sets
Vidya Malavade : i didnt really have favs. but as characters, i loved komal and balbeer kaur
nitesh_CHAK DE : which other actresses among newcomers u think can give u a tuff competition?
Vidya Malavade : competition is always healthy so bring it on. as far as i am concerned i will do my bit of work

Vidya Malavade : vidya as a person is fun loving, crazy, neatness freak and with the attitude of live and let live and just who believes
that there is a silver lining to a dark cloud. her friends call her nautanki coz she always makes everybody laugh

Vidya Malavade : i knew we had a winner when i read the script but the response is completely overwhelming n im not used to it so its

Vidya Malavade : nothing good was coming my way so i was waiting for something like chak de to come my way

SAK : dont u think chak de india's promotions were not done well as of yrf's other movies & dats y da film collection were slow @ box
office ?
Vidya Malavade : i think the promotions r decided by very experienced ppl sitting at yrf n im nobody to comment on that. but bcoz they
had a winner in their hands, they played very low key this time. it worked coz ppl went to see srk n came back loving the 16 of us. n on the first
day, the first show was not that full, but u cant get tickets even today. so the strategy finally worked
