"Running around trees will not get me an Oscar" - Shefali

Shefali is known as a choosy actor but each role played by her has contributed in her achievement as an actress. Shefali portrayed Ba's and made it remarkable through her outstanding performance. Shefali shared her views about her recently released film Gandhi My father also answered all the queries by her fans on IndiaFM celebrity chat. Here are some excerpts from the chat.

Shefali Shah : i started work after a gap of 4 yrs after work. It was a slow start... n in fact gandhi was one of my first few projects that happened around waqt but it took time to release
ann : how was it working with amitabh bachan in waqt?
Shefali Shah : its an absolute experience to work with mr bachchan. he is a fantastic human being
fizz : do u feel that u relate to Ba's character somewhere?

Shefali Shah : the last lear by rituparno ghosh, black n white by subhash ghai

Shefali Shah : anil is a very competent producer, the entire cast n crew was very focussed n everyone went beyond looking at themselves n looked at the larger picture. so many ppl worked for a singular goal

Shefali Shah : i knew about this story so it was not as shocking to me. But it's a role that any actor wld give his rt hand to
Imran : why have u always played old characters when u r quite young and good looking actress?
Shefali Shah : thankz u for that. its not that i consciously play older characters. but being an actor, its a challenge for me to play roles that im not. age comes in the same catagory n in gandhi i play not jus that old ba, but starting from age of 25 till the time she passed away
manesh : Gandhi My Father is Awe-inspiring movie - ACTING is SUPERB frm you, Darshan Jariwala, Akshaye Khanna, and Bhoomika Chawla ..... Movies like Gandhi My Father make me proud of bollywood and this should DEFINITELY be india's entry to the OSCARS

Shefali Shah : feroz had done a lot of research. n he n me both agreed that i had to understand ba emotionally rather than intellectually. i dun think i wld have been able to translate ba onto screen had i use acting skills or craft. That only way to be her is to feel what she went thru

Shefali Shah : the scene after ba goes to meet harilal after he converts to islam. it was a very emotionally draining sequence n tough to perform n i think its one of the highlights of the film

Shefali Shah : no vipul shah movie at the moment
saar Khan : how was it working with the most talented actor of this generation Akshaye Khanna?
Shefali Shah : its always an advantage to work with a good actor. like u said akshaye is one of the talented actors of our times n it only adds to ones performance when there is an actor in front of u who raises the bar, challenges u n at the same time compliments u
preetam : why not telivision?
Shefali Shah : television is time consuming. n it doesnt make the commitment of role or storyline as an actor. the reason y i probably choose a show wld very well change three epi down the line. there is no commitment in quality n content n id rather not do it then

Shefali Shah : i understand the film is a father son relationship, but that doesnt lessen the imp of ba which u realise once u see the film

Shefali Shah : i think u shld follow the diet that i follow.... i sometimes eat n sometimes jus go bon liquid diet. Last person to get a diet tip

Shefali Shah : the film was shot in sync sound, our sound recordist went around killing insects. my make up used to take long to put on n my make up man used to say that its gonna come off in next one hr
