"The time I came in this industry there was this whole sex explosion and I knew I wasn't comfortable doing scenes like that" - Nauheed Cyrusi
By IndiaFM News Bureau, March 2, 2007 - 06:19 IST
Nauheed Cyrusi, an actress with an angelic smile, came to fame with ad films and soon climbed the ladder of success. With five films in her kitty and a highly
acclaimed performance in Anwar, the actress is raring to go with her next film Life Mein Kabhie Kabhie. She talks to IndiaFM about her next film
and her other projects.
Your role in Anwar was well appreciated, how do you feel about it?
It feels great. I knew this film was special because I was completely flawed by the way Manish was shooting it. The shooting of the film involved tonnes of hours and we
all were wondering what’s going on? But when we saw the final cut I was so happy I did it.

How much have you grown as an actress from your first film Supari to your last release Anwar?
A whole lot! I would always watch people talk about how you learn with every movie your experience gets better. And it’s only now that I understand what they mean,
because honestly with every film, after you watch yourself you realize you could have done better.
We haven’t seen you in a lot of films lately, are you choosy about your films? How do you decide on a particular film?
The time I came in this industry there was this whole sex explosion and I knew I wasn’t comfortable doing scenes like that. So I consciously stayed away from those
kinds of films. And the kind of films I was getting weren’t really catching my fancy. So I thought it doesn’t make any sense because everyday I would go on the sets and
say that god what I am I doing here. You can’t call me choosy but I was just doing things that I was enjoying. Then Anwar came along. Even though
Anwar didn’t do well as a film I am glad that I did it
Our industry works well on relationships, so if the director is great I am going to put full chance on him, secondly the script and the banner I am working have to be good.

What is your film Life Mein Kabhie Kabhie about? And what is your character about?
It’s about five friends. We lay a bet in the film and then the film goes into each characters direction, also it’s about each of our ideas of success in life. Well my character
is someone who thinks that being famous is going to bring all the success in life.
This is your second film with Vikram Bhatt after Inteha, so was the bonding easier while filming?
It’s great. It’s such a treat to work with him. He just sort of extracts performances from everyone that you would really enjoy. He knows exactly what he wants. Such
directors are a delight because they know what they want and there is no confusion whatsoever.

Raffoo Chakkar sounds a comedy film. Is it remake of the old Rishi Kapoor starrer or a new film?
No, it’s not a remake. Raffoo Chakkar is an out and out comedy. Shooting for the film is just crazy and hope it turns out to be as mad as it is shooting for it.
Your English film Rockin Meera didn’t release in India.
Rocking Meera has been only screened in festivals. The film hasn’t been released anywhere, abroad or India, I am not sure if they want to release it everywhere.
The film is about me an Indian girl studying abroad and she falls in love with an African American and this causes problems because it’s not really accepted in the Indian
society.
You also were to work with Sanjay Dutt in a movie called Jaan Ki Baazi long time back. Is the film shelved?
I didn’t get a chance to work with him at all because the film got stalled.
What do you prefer more – acting or modelling?
I think I will say a balance of both. Acting can get very tedious at times because the hours are maddening. I can’t say modelling is easy but it’s a whole lot of fun because
it’s very short in terms of time period.
