Blog: Politics V/s Bollywood - Who's worse
By IndiaFM News Bureau, February 14, 2007 - 11:22 IST
India has two strong forces that are pushing people to the brink of insanity. The first one is the formidable force called the `Indian politician’ and the other one is the
Hollywood copycat_ Bollywood.
While politicians continue to strive for their personal advancement, the `stars’ of Bollywood are virtually `planting their images even in dreams’. It is their craving for the
limelight that is disgusting. News and images of Bollywood stars storm the lives of the common man every hour.
Another appalling thing is the breaching of the fortress called legacy. Now, it is the turn of some Bollywood heroes to inherit the demi-god status of their fathers who had
ruled the Hindi cinema till last decade.
The reigning blue-eyed boy of the masses, Abhishek Bacchan is the perfect example of the youngsters ascending the thrones vacated by their parents. Abhishek is no
match to the talents of the `Big B’, yet he is able to hog the limelight for too long because he is the son of the elder Bacchan. One more repugnant thing is the excessive
focus on Aishwarya Rai who is only exploiting her Miss World stardom to the maximum extent.
Now, it is the `print and graphics’ of much-hyped marriage (don’t know how things might take a turn) of Ahishek and Aishwarya that is testing the patience of the people.
The media has to take its share of the blame for showing the prospective marriage of the `most influential celebrities’, beyond bearable limits.
Hope good sense prevails on the respective `stars’ and media. Both should think that individuals matter, but only to themselves and people who are mad after them .
