Blog: Abhishek's wedding video as a film!
By IndiaFM News Bureau, February 7, 2007 - 09:25 IST
The mother of all Bollywood marriages is about to happen and the media circus has already begun with inevitable saturated coverage. YES ! Amitabh has a huge opportunity here to make it different and make a difference.
These days there are at least a couple of “grand weddings” in the country invariably followed by discussions, debates and talk shows debating their propriety on the News channels where intellectuals are found sparring with each other to secure their cerebral “high”. Honestly, in my opinion, how a person should spend his ‘wad of notes’ is strictly his/her business.
Amitabh is different. He is not just ‘someone’ with wad of notes. He is the king of hearts. The God gifted him with huge talent and divine blessings to match. He made the best of both while he eloquently and eruditely essayed the turbulent and fervent Indian society on the celluloid carrying his every portrayal with an ease of maestro and justifiably claimed super-stardom. When it came to pay his debts to the Almighty, the adversity knocked at his door. He faced it with dignity and courage, reinvented himself and resurrected – he deserves the crown that people have put on his head. He should make it different and he should make a difference.
No. I am not suggesting that Amitabh should have his son married in a quiet ceremony sans the glitter and grandeur. On the contrary, he must celebrate it with great pomp and show like it’s been never before and actually film it. There is a huge story to tell, there is a great music opportunity for the background score and no dearth of cinematic talent at his disposal. World will never be satiated with fairy tales and there is nothing wrong with it.
Dear Mr. Amitabh, release your son’s well packaged wedding video as a film. Those who flocked to see “Hum aapke … “ shall be delighted to see the real one. Give the proceeds to a meaningful charity and that would be the affirmative initiative. Unique and un-imitable – truly like yourself. (Of course, I need not tell you that there are more crooks in business of charity than in politics)
Go ahead, Oh! the maestro of trend setting and re-invention give a part of your private space to those who throng at your gates to have your glimpse. There will be cynics amongst the critics who will cry ‘foul’ but then there was never a time when they did not.
