Anees Bazmee says No Problem Click here to add this article to My Clips

By Joginder Tuteja, January 13, 2007 - 07:41 IST

No Entry director Anees Bazmee would soon be wrapping up work on Welcome. But the man is not resting as he has already begun work on his next film which he plans to call No Problem!

"Yes, that's how I intend to call it though this title is registered elsewhere", says Bazmee, "let's see if we are able to procure it!" But won't it have been more apt for his sequel to No Entry? "No, I don't think so", he is quick to retort, "changing the title of a film for a sequel may not make good sense and hence sequel too would be called No Entry."

So what is No Problem all about? "It is an action comedy that would star Ajay Devgan, Nana Patekar and Riteish Deshmukh. The film is a UTV production", he says excitedly. Tell him that presence of Riteish only adds on to the project with his current stocks being high, he nods in agreement. "That's right; it's an asset to have someone like Riteish in the project. He is good in what I have seen of him."

So how does the film's schedule look like? "We are fine tuning the script and looking forward to August - November as the time period when we should be wrapping up the film's shoot", he says, "a few months of post production and we should be aiming for an early 2008 release. Meanwhile I will also start working on the sequel to No Entry."

With comedies being in vogue for last couple of years, it is only imperative that his subsequent subjects too would have it in dollops. In fact his Sandwich too was certainly not bad and it was the delayed release and zilch promotion that killed it.

"That's right. It was a unique story but the film wasn't promoted at all", he says with a sense of sadness, "I feel especially odd when I look at a couple of recent comedies that arrived at the theatres. They did not have as much fun and humor in them as was in Sandwich. But guess such things happen. I hear it is doing decent on home video."

Meanwhile what happens to his another long delayed Benaam? "Two more days to shoot and the film will be done with. Yes, there have been numerous delays in shooting and other hassles but I am glad the film has turned out well after all. Now what I would love to see is good promotion to assist the film's release. It is an interesting thriller with Ajay Devgan in the lead and a story that not been told before in Hindi cinema", he spills out details.

Coming back to Welcome, one is sure he won't have such worries with none other than master of publicity Firoz Nadiadwala at the helm. "Oh, not at all", he laughs, "with him one can expect an intensive promotional campaign. We are looking forward to May release!"
