Gracy Singh idolizes Vyjayantimala for graceful dancing technique Click here to add this article to My Clips

Munna’s original sweetheart is a keen dancer and her recent dance-ballet Radhika is proof of her intentions. Gracy Singh idolizes yesteryear Supernova Vyjayantimala for her ethereal grace and classical technique. Gracy has a library of the dancing diva’s films, of which these are her top five:

Jewel Thief: I have watched this masterpiece over and over and it was truly providential when I was asked to dance to `Hothon pe aisi baat...’ for the screen test of Lagaan. It is such a special number, Ashutosh Gowariker and Reena were present when I danced and got selected for the role.

Amrapali: She played the royal danseuse (raaj nartaki) in it and I watched it for the first time during my Board examinations in Delhi. I was completely mesmerized by her jugalbandi dance in it and since then I decided I wanted to be a dancer. The acting bit just came about.

Aas Ka Panchi: This is not a dancing part at all but an intense, performance-oriented film co-starring Rajendra Kumar as an Air Force officer. I guess this film inspired the actor in me.

Sangam: She displays her amazing versatility in the film. From traditional to Western she has transformed herself so very elegantly for the film. Very few know that I am trained in Western dance, but I am traditional in my outlook just like her.

Ganga Jamuna: It is a classic film. She is simply amazing as the beautiful village belle and Dilip Kumar as her dashing hero inspires romance in its simplest form. I can watch the song sequences any number of times.
