So after a lot of producers feeling the heat from the Censor Board, another one has joined the bandwagon. Just recently we saw the release of the film Anthony Kaun Hai? And the producer and director too felt a pinch in the film. There was a scene in the film where the lead Arshad Warsi asks actress Minnisha Lamba, “Can I please have my Jack Daniel’s back?” Jack Daniels is a popular brand of whiskey and the censor board had a problem with the brand being openly promoted in the film. So according to director Raj Kaushal, the dialogue was re-dubbed with another dialogue.
But that was not all. There was also a portion where the bottle of whiskey was shown and that too was objected by the Censor Board. The scene could not be shot again so the label of the brand had to be digitally blackened. According to the Censor’s alcohol can be shown if the scene is justified but the promoting of an alcohol brand in a film is banned. Alcohol advertising is India has been forbidden but there is a lot of surrogate advertising going around where the brands come out with golf club accessories and mineral water with the same name.
