Come hits or flops, Sunny Deol continues to muscle his way as the most glamorous jhat in Bollywood
Despite a couple of duds in the recent past, die hard Deol loyalists have never given up on the he-man of Bollywood. An industry insider recently made an interesting observation when he said, 'whenever Sunny Deol has played a Punjabi, the film has always worked. We thought that was amusing and so ran through his can of films to confirm what the gentleman said and what do you, he did make sense.
Sunny played an elder son from a Punjabi family in his home production, Dillagi. The film might have gone cold at the box office but his performance as the sedate elder brother did win him some plaudits, Bobby too flags his character of the bratty Rajvir among is favorites. The giant success of Gadar where he plays a fire breathing sikh, Tara Singh was the biggest blockbuster in recent years.
And guess what, he plays a true-blue Punjabi once again in his upcoming film, Jo Bole So Nihaal. He plays the role of a sardar cop on a mission to US but doesn't know English. The outcome like we you can guess is a lot of funny & bizarre situations that the braveheart gets in to. “That's right, Jo Bole So Nihal is a complete laugh riot. It is something that I have never attempted before,” says the reticent Deol. Is it true that he will be raising some laughs rather than packing punches like always. ”True, I have a comic angel to my character. It was a new experience & great fun” he says. We can't resist asking what he thinks about the punjabi-success remark, he gives us an innocent look and replies, “I don't look at it that way. I just play characters that are close to my heart. But I am only glad if people see a 'son of the soil' man in me. It only makes me happy”
