Is Bollywood loosing its sexpot to serious cinema?

Cotton saris hide those sinful curves,
the hair's pulled into an unexciting bun &
her eyes no longer have the sensuous signal to it
“Oh, you almost killed me” Bips laughs. “Not us, your look in Apharan does” we kid. The topic du jour is her deglam look in Prakash Jha's crime caper, Apaharan. “See, its not like the makeup has run dry & I am shying away from what made me, the sex-symbol crown. Just that the character is that of a small town girl. So it only makes sense when I say that a girl from Bihar doesn't parade on the streets in halter necks & hotshorts” her frankspeak still has the sting. “Don't read boring when I say that I am not overtly glamorous” she says with an air of finality to it.
While on Apharan, what does she get to do in this men-n-gun flick? “I too wasn't sure about the graph that my role would take. All I knew was that I wanted to work with Prakash, so I signed up” she explains. “My role is that of a girl who falls in love with Ajay Devgan and changes his life completely. But due to his frustration with the system, he takes to kidnapping, which is a business in Bihar. I then meet him after a leap of some years when he kidnaps my husband. The awkwardness that has now crept between the two is very interesting to watch.” she gists.
Hope my answer suits you lady! she chides us. And what is it with Barsaat, tongues are wagging that she is dumping glamour once again for the Suneel Darshan tear jerker? “With Manish as my costume designer, how can you even think like that? That guy is almost insane about making his heroines look beautiful & gorgeous. Glamour is his middle name” the actress gives a hearty laugh. “In Barsaat, he has given me bright colors with a lot of floral motifs & interesting cuts” she adds. “Besides, my role is that of a simple girl not essentially over-the-top sexy. And simple again doesn't mean boring” Point taken, mam!
