Anything Shahrukh does makes news
And things that he doesn't do, makes bigger news
That's SRK star power for you
So what is keeping the superstar busy these days? “I am working on Amol Palekar's film.” he says with a casual air. Oh yes, so what is it that he really liked about the film? “I think it's an honest film and has a really good story. And that people should hear it” How does he plan to deal with the risk factor associated with an Amol Palekar film? “At the risk of sounding pompous, let me tell you that there are enough people out there who want to watch me irrespective of the package I am put in. That's a blessing. And I am sure they will come in to watch this film and quite like it” he says with a hopeful cord in his voice.
“Besides which, I think Ashu (Ashutosh Gowarikar) has spoilt me. After Swades, I now want to do films with a message thrown in.” his witty self surfaces. “This film is Amol's thought. It deals with women's emancipation. You know, there is a lovely scene in the film that has the guy ask a village girl, 'Do you accept me?' The girl goes quiet and when the guy asks her what's wrong, she replies, 'It's the first time that someone has asked me for my choice' ”I really like that bit in the film” he smiles.
The now 'Paheli' was initially called 'Ghost ka dost', right? “No…no...that's what I used to call it. Amol & Gulzarsaab have a stroke when I call it that. They feel I am corrupting them. And I kind of agree too, I think they can't take anymore corruption than the fact that I am acting in the film” the cine star laughs.
