She ran on a beach in a white ganji and half the nation was left gasping…Rangeela gave Bollywood an oomph goddess that seduced a good part of the nineties. Dishy, desirable and delicious looking, Urmila is still the fantasy female who gives guys from 5-50, wet dreams. Check with the 58 year old Randhir Kapoor, “Urmila is one actress who I have the hots for!” he winks. We took a stroll down the style lane with the actress who we like to describe as seriously sexy!
“Hai Rama…' was edgy not vulgar!”
Just as sensuality and Urmila are inseparable, Rangeela and Urmila too have to be spelt in one breath, we tell her. “So true…” she smiles. Say, what is it about Rangeela that people still swear by the film? “I think Rangeela was very ahead of its time…” Urmi sparks off. 'Scandalous for its time too…' we tease. “No seriously, be it the story, styling or costume, the film was a first” the actor points out. 'Lady, your 'Hai Rama…' was an 'orgy' we humor her. She laughs uproariously, 'You guys nah…' Getting a hold on her laughter, she answers, “Hey, 'Hai Rama' was edgy but not vulgar. Besides, it wasn't that big as the media made it out to be” Urmila picks on the fourth estate.

What about her famous pout? Is that too courtesy flashbulbs? we chide. She rolls her eyes at us, “ Nah, that is very me. I know that people talk about my 'so-called' pout. Many actresses have successfully and unsuccessfully imitated it. That is very flattering” she smiles. And how does she take to it? “I don't really react. Just that sometimes I wonder that there must be something very special about my pout that people can't get a hold of their mouth” she chuckles.

Urmila has a thing for short crop, true? We ask “Yeah, its just that I have this obsession for short hair. And Manish Malhotra hates me for that” she guffaws. “We often have many a spat about it. About a year ago I told Manish about going short with my hair and the guy threw a fit. I remember him screaming, 'Urmila, I haven't seen a bigger freak in life than you who wants to do away with those lovely locks' But in Bhoot, I had my way!” she says with childlike enthusiasm. “For the character of Swati, I was looking for a short clean look. Ramu and I convinced Manish about it” says the sexy lass with innocent vindication.

But it's her onscreen outfits that never fail to create a flutter “Yes. The outfits that I have worn have been quite a rage” Now you are hiding behind a veil of modesty, we tell her. She introduced those 'Oh-so-cute' short skirts with Rangeela, brought hot pants out of the grave in Daud, dazzled in tiny one-piece numbers. And when the seductress simmered in those revealing outfits, her teasing silhouette was what censor level fantasies were made of.

Her Rangeela co-star Jackie rates her as the lady with the best bod in business. “Well, thank you” the temptress blushes. “See, sensuality isn't about how much skin you show. Its about the look that you want project” she elaborates. But the most striking feature about Urmila, admit it or not is her cute derriere. “You guys are devils!” she laughs. “But yes, the camera is a little upbeat about my tush” she says sportingly. “I have the 'but, naturally, butt” she says cheekily.

If there is one thing that Urmila scores herself high on is the fact that she does her own make-up and does a damn good job of it! “That's true, I do my makeup bit” But which jack on earth would refuse to do a few brush strokes for the stunner, we ask? “See, it isn't as wonderful as you make it out to be. I had a couple of nasty experiences at the hand of makeup artists. The talented ones don't have required professionalism and the professionals aren't talented enough” she leaves us amused. “That's when I decided to give it a shot. And now yes, I am a pro at it!” she smiles bright.
Finally, does size matter? we throw her a spin. “Oh yes, most definitely!” she says with a glint in her eye. And we are treated to another full-throated laughter…
