The Men & Magic behind Kaal Dhamaal!

If Mumbai is facing a heat wave, blame it on Soham Shah's Kaal. The 'Kaal Dhamaal' track is apparently burning the screen. IndiaFM gives you an inside out picture of the hugely awaited item number which has Shahrukh Khan debut as an 'item boy' if you will. And hotbod Malaika Arora, who ensures that the mercury just doesn't stop rising!
An item number in a songless thriller?
“Anything that I do is incomplete without Shahrukh”
“Well it was my idea,” says the natty Karan Johar. “Kaal being a hard hitting thriller, I thought a fast paced song as a promotional device for the film would work well,” says the articulate producer. Also this track is going to be used while the start credits roll. “And, yes it was my idea to have Shahrukh in the track. As it is popularly known, no work of mine is complete without Shahrukh. So I asked him if he did mind being a part of the song but he was game. That's how the superstar of India will shine as an item boy in my film” he chuckles.

“A soundtrack like this is a first in Bollywood”
Soham tells us his reason for selecting the duo; “I had earlier on worked with them in Bhoot & was well aware of what they could offer. I quite like their work. Since Kaal is based on the jungles, I was sure that we had a wide range on the sound palette to play around with & experiment. And these guys have just proved me right with the score that they have given Kaal”
“What got us really excited was that a soundtrack like this is rarely asked for in Bollywood,” the music duo tells us. “So creating it was great fun. Both Tauba Tauba & Kaal Dhamaal are high energy songs. They are danceable tracks with a strong Sufi touch to it” Sulaiman articulates. Now that the music is out & topping charts, how they describe the music? “Folk funk,” says Salim.
Tauba Tauba has been rendered by Sonu Nigam, Sunidhi Chauhan, Richa Sharma & Kunal Ganjawala. Kunal once again has a blast with Kaal Dhamaal when the talented singer croons for King Khan. Music lovers are in for a feast as there is yet another version to the Kaal Dhamaal track- 'The Jungle Mix'. With new sounds & fast beats, this one's a clubber's delight.

Dance masti with Farah Khan
A pulsating track is ready, now how do you bring it to life? Well, look no further than Farah. Ace choreographer & Dharma favorite Farah Khan has choreographed both Kaal Dhamal (SRK-Malaika) & Tauba Tauba (John-Esha-Lara-Vivek) While Tauba Tauba has opened warm, Kaal Dhamaal has just hit air.
Sharmista Roy designed a set at Filmistan, which has the feel of a disco amidst jungle. “The song is power-packed & peppy. We put together a tattooed SRK, Malaika as a Russian ballet dancer & chorus dancers in leopard prints & it was magic!” excites Farah. “I have ensured that the dance matches with the tempo of the song” she points out. “Shahrukh & Malaika are too good. The last time the three of us worked was on top of a train in Dil Se for Chaiyya Chaiyya, & this time we are in the jungles. And people say success comes easy!” she teases. “Coming back to the song, it has shaped up very well & I am sure this is going to be a real 'Dhamaal' number!” she shoots off.

“Forgive me for trying to be sexy!”
...quips SRK. And you know that his wit never retires. “For starters, I neither have the physique of a John nor can I dance like Hrithik. I am all wrong for an item number!” he says in a self-mocking manner. “Karan asked me to do the number & I did it. That's all there is to it. Also it was a long time that I did full blown dance, so I did kind of enjoy it. And why won't you, when you have Malaika to keep you company” he chuckles.
“But honestly, I am sure you'll like the number because of the way it has been put together. They got me to streak my hair, tone my body a bit and Manish put me into some real snazzy clothes. All of which left me a little lost. As I always say, I don't understand anything else but acting. But have to admit, they have made me look a lot sexier!” he lets out a hesitant smile.

“On a serious note, there are a lot new elements that have been used in the song. Farah can never go wrong with a song” he remarks & continues in the same breath, “…and more so, when it has me” he smiles.
