Chahaat - Ek Nasha will be an image overhaul for this Chui-mui actress. Preeti Jhangiani plays the role of an aspiring popstar in this Manisha Koirala-Aryan Vaid starrer. IndiaFM does a quickie with the docile actress about her new hot-hot avatar that is creating a lot of steam-talk in Bollywood.
Your role has created quite a stir…
(Blushes) People still connect with me as the soft, sweet girl from Mohabbatein. But Chaahat - Ek Nasha has me in a daringly different role. I play Rashmi. Determined, focused, she is the girl of today. Rashmi looks up to Manisha as an icon.
Give us a feel of the story…
The film is about Rashmi who approaches a music company head (Aryan) to give her a chance. He gives her the break and the girl climbs the success ladder. Rashmi now challenges Manisha's position on the music chart. The equation between the two gives an interesting angle to the plot.
How was Aryan to work with?
I was in for a pleasant surprise when I met Aryan. He swept me off with his acting skills and diction.
What about Manisha? What were your work vibes like?
Everybody knows the heights that Manisha can scale as an actress. The role was a first-time for her too. She plays a popstar for the first time in her career. There is so much to learn from a senior artist like her. She is a switch on-switch off actor.
How was your experience like with the director?
I had seen his work in Market. I like the plot during the script session. But what I liked even better is that the film has panned out the exactly the way it was on paper. I am happy with the result.
Are you a director's actor?
Absolutely. Cinema is a director's medium unlike stage when an actor has more command. I think each of us actors have to be essentially a director's actor. We are here to execute his/her vision to the best of our capabilities.
