Bollywood Bar Brawls! Click here to add this article to My Clips

By IndiaFM News Bureau, February 25, 2005 - 00:41 IST

Getting high at bars and getting bad in brawls is a very common feature of today's youth, but not all these are reported in detail unless one of the concerned parties is a celebrity, like the recent reported Aftab Shivdasani incident. But Aftab is not the errant from his pedigree. There have been a lot of celebs that have tangled themselves in petty arguments, which have been later blown out of proportion.

In early 2004 Zayed Khan reportedly bashed up two NRIs from New Zealand for trying to gatecrash his friend and co-star Esha Deol's birthday party at Athena, Mumbai. “Drunkards harassing friends at private parties and trying to get cosy with co-stars is unacceptable,” claims Zayed.

Super cool dude John Abraham lost his temper once when some guys made a nasty pass at Bipasha Basu in a Mumbai nightspot Rain. John reportedly thrashed them till the pub management stepped in.

Fardeen Khan is said to have been involved in a number of drunken brawls in Mumbai in 2002. Bollywood's bad boy Salman Khan has had his share of pub brawling too. He reportedly got into a nasty fistfight in October 2004 with lensmen who were trying to click him with Katrina Kaif at a Mumbai disc.

A lot of stars defend themselves saying that they are provoked and that the other guests don't respect their right to be alone, a lot of them try to get nasty as well. “If an ordinary 26 year old has an argument no one talks about it. Why do celebs have to bear the brunt of fame?” asks Riteish Deshmukh. All they are left with is to maintain a low profile or play safe; these days you never know where the lens is clicking.
