Aryan burst into limelight with Market - hibernated and now after a long hiatus will be seen in various films in 2005. In limelight or no- this hot hunk doesn't lose his spunk. In an exclusive here he speaks about all his upcoming projects.
Fun is said to be a 'bold' film with some very explicit scenes. Are you comfortable with the current trend of bare-dare cinema?
Fun is a bold theme and explicit scenes are there but I am not indulging in them. The entire title of the film reads FUN - can be dangerous sometimes, so I bring in the dangerous element in the film. I am playing this rich business tycoon; he is a character with gray shades to him. So I am not in those bare dare scenes. I'd be ok playing them maybe once or twice but not in every movie that I do. But these days everything that one gets offered, they somehow incorporate bold scenes into it or they are looking for scripts that are bold, they are looking for scripts that have adultery, infidelity, issues dealing with these subjects. So everything has a sexual undercurrent to it most of the subjects these days. But I am ok with them, like I said if the scenes are integral to the script, as long as they are not explicitly in your face or they are not vulgar. I think I would be ok with kissing and all that but beyond that on screen one can do it only once or twice, so I don't think I will be able to do it in every film of mine.
Tell us something about the film?
Fun is a film with two sub plots in it, which converge at some point in the film. One is that three couples that go out on a holiday to a resort and the wives decide to get naughty and exchange their husbands, there is a husband-swapping angle to it. And the other sub plot is of my character and my wives character. My wife is killed in the film and from there the story takes on as to who is the murderer and so on. So I would say that it's a thriller with tons of action but with a sexual undercurrent to it.
Most of your upcoming films have strong sexual content why so?
Chahat - Ek Nasha did not have that much of sexual content, there wass only one scene between Preeti and me but that too just a kiss. I think the film was being publicized that way. Yes, In Mr. 100% I am playing a gigolo, but again I would like to say that Mr. 100% is bold in terms of the subject but its not blatantly sexual in terms of way it is shot. I wouldn't like to categorize it as a sex film. There is a fair bit of expectation that there maybe sex in it. But let me assure you that its not a film with just sex being its USP, it's a film that deals with his relationships, with his wife primarily which is played by Mahima and his mentor so to speak which is played by Irfan Khan. So it's a very sensitive portrayal of this character of his relationships with the various other characters in the film.
How comfortable were you playing a role like that?
It was like any other role, while playing a role one tries to make it look as real as possible, not by doing research, I don't think if you are an actor you need to research. Obviously in terms of body language and how to incorporate it, but obviously one cant go and start living in the slums if he has to play a guy living in slums. Probably then if I have to play a character which dies, I will have to probably live in a morgue for few days! (Laughs) I have researched the facts as in how they operate and where about are their services hired. It's a bit shocking when you see in the film. We have just tried to depict that and have kept the story as real as possible.
In Fun there is husband swapping and in Mr.100%… you are a gigolo, women in all these films seem to be craving for you - must be great?
Ya! there are a few steamy scenes, but you know how it is, you just go, do your scenes, try not to look embarrassed because it will show on the screen, so one tries to make those scenes look as real as possible. So it is good, I cant say that it was a bad experience at all. I just think that I have exhausted my stock of these kind of films and I am dying to do a hard core action film or something like that.
Tell us something about White Noise it is one of the different movies you have done so far?
I am hardly in the film, its not my film at all, White Noise is essentially Koel Purie and Rahul Bose's film, I did it at a point of my career when I needed work, its just taken a long time to come out. I haven't even seen the entire script so I don't know what it is really like so it would be unfair of me to make a comment on White Noise, all I can say is Vinta is a very dear friend, extremely talented so I am sure she has made a good film.
What roles according to you; suit you?
I think I should be playing the underworld gangster - mobster the guy who does all the action in the film. I don't think that I am cut out for a hard-core romantic film, I don't see myself doing Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge or Dil To Pagal Hai.
