By IndiaFM News Bureau, December 1, 2005 - 05:45 IST
Pornography, the business of making blue films, is a 56 billion industry. And it thrives on exploitation of the innocent. Kalyug, the latest offering from the Bhatt camp, is based on this theme. We at IndiaFM present to you some exclusive footage from the film.
The Bhatts continue their tradition of introducing new faces with Kalyug. The movie marks the debut of three actors – item girl Deepal Shaw, Smily Suri (sister of director Mohit Suri) and Kunal Khemu (popular child actor in films like Hum Hai Rahi Pyaar Ke, Raja Hindustaani, Dushman).
The video opens showing Kunal Khemu and Smily Suri getting married and sharing some sublime moments on the backdrop of Rahat Fateh Ali Khan’s soulful number “Jiya Dhadak Jaye”. These two people from different worlds, met to make a world of their own. But instead of heaven, they got hell.

The unsuspecting couple is captured by hidden camera on the most sacred and intimate moment of their life – their first night, and the video clip is circulated across the globe through the internet. The couple is arrested on charges of making blue films. Smily is unable to deal with the humiliation and commits suicide. It’s then that Kunal vows to uncover the racket behind the blue films and reaches the underbelly of pornography, Zurich.
Enter dusky damsel Deepal Shaw who plays famous Indian porn and introduces the porn website Indiapassion.com. Emran Hashmi comes in as Alibhai, owner of a sex-shop in Amsterdam introducing sex-toys like dummy dolls that might be alien to the Indian audience. Ali is just a pawn of the porn world who helps out Kunal but at the same time warns him against messing with the biggies in the business.
So far so good! So who’s the bad man? None! Here it’s a woman. Yesteryear actress Amrita Singh plays the negative lead of this movie. Decked up in corporate suits, she has a striking presence. Incidentally, years back Amrita had worked with Mahesh Bhatt in films like Naam, Kabzaa and Thikana. And more interestingly the last one was also loosely based on the pornographic industry.
The clip ends with the dialogue “Yeh Kalyug Hai, Yaha Ek Ki Takleef Doosre Ka Tamansha Hai” (one person’s problem is other person’s entertainment).
