To Salman Sir…

That’s how actor Rimii refers to her Kyon Ki… co-star, Salman. We kept wondering as to why she referred to the Bollywood hunk as ‘Sir’? Was she following the Bollywood dictate of being the ‘good girl’ who touched fatcat producers and director’s feet and squeaked, ‘Pairi pauna’ or still worse, the courtesy girl who referred to all of them as ‘Sir and Madam’.
When we finally shot her the question, and she broke into a laugh, ‘What’s the big deal. I call Salman that because he is my senior by many years. And let me tell you I don’t unnecessarily do the ‘touch-feet’ thing either. That was a bit of exaggeration there” she teased us.
Okay, so what was it like working with ‘Sir’ after all? We ribbed her once again. “It was awesome!” the Bengali star exulted. “He is a complete rockstar. I have been crazy about him since a child. I remember having watched him in MAINE PYAR KIYA and purchased a poster of Salman in the ‘Friends Forever’ cap. I had it in my bedroom. But not in my wildest dreams did I think I would be romancing him on screen one day. And for this I must thank Priyan Sir, Mukesh and Sunil for having thought of me for the role in the first place” she tells us.
“Getting back to Salman, he is such an unassuming person. He is a star...” she quickly corrects herself, “He is a superstar, yet is very down-to-earth. Be it a co-star or the spot, Salman Sir treats everybody with the same amount of respect. There is never a case of ‘oh, you are a small guy, he is a big shot’. None of that” she clarifies. “That’s the reason the entire crew looks forward to him arriving for the shoot daily, including me!” she volunteers. “The entire atmosphere is very chilled out with him. Unke saath kaam karne ka mazaa hi kuch aur hain” the petite actor bundles up her experience.
