Ash’s director of Hamara Dil Apke Paas Hain, Satish Kaushik has a very interesting remark to share about his light-eyed actor. He says, “I remember working with Ash during Hamara Dil Aapke Paas Hain and she is very professional. Her approach to acting is so ‘pupil-like’. Now this works both in favor and against her. Her schoolgirl approach of executing exactly what has been told to her is great because it speeds up the process to a great deal. But then somewhere she looses her individuality”
“For example I recollect shooting a song with her and what I observed was that Ash in her endeavor to do exactly what the choreographer was showing her imitates her. She forgets her individual expressions and begins to look like a proxy of the choreographer. This is a huge problem because the expressions are not hers but it’s her face. So there is a terrible mismatch and her personality isn’t leveraged to the best. With a face like that, I think it’s real tragic. My advice to Ash is, ‘Girl, you have a million-dollar face, so put on expressions that match those millions!’
