Movies to watch out for in the last quarter of 2005 Click here to add this article to My Clips

By IndiaFM News Bureau, October 3, 2005 - 00:06 IST

With the end of the third quarter of 2005, Bollywood saw quite an interesting lot of films that hit the bull's eye. Love stories (Bunty Aur Babli, Saalam Namaste, Lucky - No Time For Love), comedy capers (Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya, No Entry), patriotism (Mangal Pandey), family dramas (Waqt - The Race Against Time), realistic flicks (Black, Page 3, Sarkar)… Bollywood has seen it all this year.

As we approach the last three months of the year, let IndiaFM let you know which films you should be looking forward to as potential blockbusters.

Kyon Ki

Cast: Salman Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Riimi Sen
Director: Priyadarshan

The Story:
The story is about a mental patient (Salman Khan) who is basically a bit naughty and loves playing pranks. He meets a caring young nurse (Kareena Kapoor) in the mental institution. The nurse slowly forms a bond with her patient and becomes curious about his past. Through flashbacks, the audience eventually learns how the patient lost his mind and how his former lover (Riimi Sen) is involved in the series of events. Jackie Shroff and Om Puri form the rest of the cast.

What to watch out for:
Priyadarshan coming back into a serious movie after a sabbatical. He was a master when it came to handling serious and sensitive themes in movies like Gardish, Sazaa-e-Kala paani and Virasat before he shifted completely into comedy with Hera Pheri. Salman also returns as a man with a psychological problem again after Tere Naam. Himesh Reshammiya's melodious musical score

What happens when John Abraham, once Mac's best friend and now his sworn enemy, threatens to reveal Mac's harem to Anjali? The Answer: Garam Masala.

What To Watch Out For:
The fire and ice combination of Akshay and John together for the first time promise to set the big screen on fire.

Paresh Rawal and his antiques. He has always showed form in his comedy capers with director Priyadarshan be it Hera-Pheri, Hungama or Hulchul.

Release Date: November 3.

Vaah! Life Ho To Aisi

Cast: Sanjay Dutt, Shahid Kapur, Amrita Rao.
Director: Mahesh V. Manjrekar.

The Story:
You have seen him essay a gangster, a cop, a father and just about everything else. Now Sanjay Dutt will be seen in a role never done before - the Original God of Death Yamraaj. Shahid plays a young guy who wants to be a mechanical engineer, but has got the responsibility of taking care of his nephews and nieces. So he works as a car mechanic to pursue his dreams. Until he dies and meets Yamraaj. This comedy will definitely make you laugh till you die.

What To Watch out for:
Loads of special effects. It's a fantasy film on the lines of yesteryear's superhit Mr. India. There was also buzz that with the help of special effects, the makers are planning to bring in late actor Sunil Dutt along with son Sanjay Dutt in one frame for one of the sequences of the film.

The successful pairing of Shahid Kapoor and Amrita Rao after their hit Ishq Vishk.

Release Date: November 25

Jawani Diwani - A Joyful Ride

Cast: Emraan Hashmi, Celina Jaitley, Hrishitaa Bhatt, Mahesh V. Manjrekar.

The Story: A love triangle but with a difference. The triangle involves Hrishitaa - daughter of the owner of a top music company, Celina - a music video artist and Emraan - a struggling singer. Emraan thinks that if he marries Hrishitaa he will get his big break as a pop singer so he has an affair with her. Days before his marriage he meets Celina and truly falls in love with her. Set in the beautiful locales of Mauritius, this movie promises you to make you laugh, cry, work on your relationship or destroy it completely. With so much music involved you would expect a hit album coming to a store near you.

What To Watch Out For: The comedy and off course where there's Emraan there has to be lip-locking as well. But we won't tell you with whom. Wait for that! Also the Jawani Diwani title track will be the chartbuster and the flavor of the season at all the discos.
