Bollywood 'cut-to-size' with Rocky S!

He dresses the rich and the famous. His client list boasts of Bipasha Basu, John Abraham, Dino Moreo, Arjun Rampal, Dia Mirza, Hrithik Roshan, Jimmy Shergill and Shilpa Shetty. IndiaFM catches celeb couturier Rocky S for a chat. Rocky in a white tee and blue denims with a cap to go feeds us on how Ek pal ka jeena happened, who makes Bipasha laugh and his journey from tackling actress tantrums to becoming their favorite clothes man…

picking up clothes for Ek Pal ka jeena…”
Hrithik raves
“It was during the shoot of Ek Pal ka Jeena. My clothes hadn't arrived and I developed cold feet,” Hrithik recollects. “Not knowing what to do, I simply buzzed Rocky about my no-go situation. Believe it or not, he was there in 5 minutes flat! We then went shopping any and everywhere”
Rocky agrees, “Yeah I remember, Hrithik and I walked all over Hill Road on a rainy night picking up clothes for the shoot. We then put all it together and created the see-through body hug for the song” Hrithik adds, “Rocky worked all night on the look and was ready with the outfit in the morning! However pompous it be, I must add that, the Ek Pal Ka Jeena look turned into a rage!”

Dia dashes in…
Rocky worked with the dainty Dia Mirza in Deewaanapan. The film did a turkey at the box-office but spouted a great designer-damsel bond. Dia tells us, “That he is a fine designer is public knowledge. But what few know is that he is a total party animal. And guess what he is a fabulous dancer. So whenever I am in the mood to groove, Rocky is the guy I catch” she smiles. Arjun agrees, “Rocky is young at heart. He loves to go clubbing”

We catch Bips for some frankspeak on her darling designer. “I think Rocky is the best designer we have. Plus, he is a very giving person. Whenever we meet all that we do is gab and gab…
He totally cracks me up. He is a shopoholic and among the fun things that we do is go on long shopping sprees. Infact, the guy is so much into brands that if you attach a price tag, he will fetch a few hundred thousand!” she giggles.
When we asked Rocky about Basu's remarks, he said, “Hey, Bipasha's both funny and sweet. Our rapport far extends the actress-designer equation. Whenever she is suffering any blues, I just have to gag and the lady is all splits!” And there is another thing that she mustn't have told you…
“Be it X'mas or Diwali, Bipasha never ever has any clothes ready for an occasion! Madam gives me a call at the end moment and expects clothes to be delivered! I am her SOS!” he digs.
“I had to run after producers for payment!”
Getting on Bollywood track, what is the one piece of work that he is extremely proud of? “Gadar and Koi Mil Gaya are films that are extremely close to my heart” And getting back to basics, what was it like when he started designing? “Oh back then, I had just no clue how the industry worked. I had to run behind producers for months, for my paycheck. Actress tantrums were an additional sore. Dashing order within 12 hours didn't make life easy either. But now things are better spaced out” he breathes.
So what is it that keeps him going in this cutthroat profession? “My love for clothes!” smiles the scissor-wiz!
