Sexing up the showers!

The Hawas hottie has finally decided to trade her skimpy wear for some lessons in acting. Meghna Naidu will be playing the role of a blind girl in Amol Shetgi’s Friday tease Rain. Can’t help compare it to the sterling Black, “No. Rain has nothing to do with Bhansali’s Black. The film was conceived a year back and there is a whole lot of groundwork that’s gone into in” she avers “But Rani is one actress I really look up to. So I wouldn’t mind if people compared me to her” she smiles.
So what’s the character like? “My character is Sanjana, a blind authoress who has a phobia for rain. The mere mention of rain sends her into a frenzy. And when it actually starts raining, the girl is terrified. So there is an intrigue that is attached to rain rather than using it as a mere prop. And Himanshu, a journo, who has come to interview me tries to find out the cause of this rain-fear that I have developed” informs Meghna.
So how did she prepare for the character? “Well, one of my closest friend is visually impaired. She organized workshops for me. It helped me understand the world of the blind much better. Yet, the first three days were pretty tough because I had constantly remind myself that I am blind. Amol was of great help, I remember him shouting at me at times, ‘Meghna, you are blind, so behave like one’
So would that mean it’s sayonara time for the sex kitten? “Not really. I came into Bollywood with the glam doll image and that is going nowhere. But just like any other artist, I too need a creative change. I have done my share of dancing-singing bit. Now this role is a huge welcome for me’ she says, looking pleased.
And how does Meghna react to the sexy label? “I guess it’s fine if people find me attractive” she says coyly. Meghna, attractive is a mild word, men call you their fantasy female, how about that? “If I can be hot & glamorous, I don’t see anything wrong with that“ the voluptuous vixen replies. “But I am very much trying to do different roles in the hope that people start taking me as a serious actor”
While she rallies that the film will see her in a serious light, the steamy promos tell us another story all together, we chide her. “Well, that is done so that the film appeals to a wide spectrum, you see. But would she like to do a typical wet-sari number? “Why not, it’s fun” she replies. While on Rain, this would be the third time pairing of Meghna and Himanshu since Hawas and Jackpot. Looks like the B and C centre crowds love this wet-and-wild jodi.
“And my films like Jackpot, Mashooka and Ishq Diwana will once again give you the hot and saucy Meghna that my fans know!” she laughs. And we know that ‘Rain’ is just a mild shower, the sexpot is here to stay…
