Neal N Nikki: Promo Watch Click here to add this article to My Clips

By Joginder Tuteja, September 17, 2005 - 09:00 IST

One always thought that there is no magic formula in Bollywood that would promise a success. But it appears that this is not the case anymore with Yash Raj Films who seem to have cracked the code right. Result is there for everyone to be seen with Yash Raj Films now sitting strongly in the numero uno position with back to back successes belonging to different genres. Hum Tum, Dhoom, Veer Zaara, Black, Bunty Aur Babli, Mangal Pandey, Salaam Namaste – these are just some of the films with which the prestigious banner has been associated at varied capacity and has come up trumps.

Now conveniently add Neal 'n' Nikki [hereby rechristened N3] to the overflowing list. If the promos are any indications to go by, this fun 'n' frolic movie is on the way to be yet another success for Yash Raj Films. Theatrical trailer, though of just one-minute duration, has made an impact in a big way and is bound to make this winter hot when the movie releases.

Directed by Arjun Sablok [who earlier made 'Na Tum Jaano Na Hum' with Hrithik Roshan and Esha Deol and directed the 'Dhoom Machale' video with Tata Young] is behind the camera again for this young movie starring Uday Chopra and Tanisha.

The Tagline of the movie says - "This December Nice Is Out – Naughty is In". That is apparent from the very first shot of this well cut promo. As soon as the zingy title track begins with a "behind the back" shot of a young boy and a girl matching step by step while dancing in a plush green garden, one knows that this is going to be yet another fun mission. A couple of shots from here showcase the fascination of Arjun around gliders, flying dupattas and snow peaked mountains [that were part of NTJNH as well] but from here on the promo takes a completely different turn. If one got an impression that it is yet another sweet-n-saccharine love story from the house of Chopras then that is proved wrong, what with the character of Uday Chopra introduced in a big way. A chic new haircut, impressive cool-dude kinda wardrobe, colored glasses and a wide grin add on a hep-n-mischievous urban look to him.

All this while the highly catchy title song continues to blaze full volume in the background, hence giving the promo some great appeal. Though it needs to be mentioned that the tune by Salim-Suleman is straight out of the English portion from 'Tauba Tauba' of Kaal ('Feel The Fire, Take Me Higher’)!!

At this moment it is the turn of Tanisha to make an entry and this is exactly the point where you can't help but just look in awe. This pretty young thing completely reinvents her in this movie and looks prettier, sexier and overall attractive than ever before. A complete revelation, she is stunning in her short dresses that are bound to excite many a guys. Rightly so, she even introduces herself as sweet-n-sexy hence giving tough competition to Uday who considers himself to be nothing less than a 'rockstar - superstar'! She has been projected in such a neat way that never does she look vulgar inspite of some good dose of exposure. Instead she appears all innocent and playful while dancing joyfully as per the choreography of Vaibhavi Merchant.

Filmed in Vancouver [Canada], N3 appears to be a campus movie with a totally young feel around it for which credit must be given to eye pleasing cinematography. The promo ends with the young pair continuing to take 'pangas' with each other. Especially funny is the shot when one of Tanisha's back kicks makes Uday fall down on the ground.

An extremely well cut promo that instantly catches your attention, now one keenly awaits the next logical milestone en route to the movie hitting the theatres i.e. the music launch.
