Huh, don’t like Chocolate? Click here to add this article to My Clips

By IndiaFM News Bureau, September 16, 2005 - 02:51 IST

If evil had its way, the most interesting element of Chocolate,
Anil Kapoor wouldn’t have been there in the film!

…and the evil happens to be Anil, himself. It so happened that when Anil was first offered the film, he bluntly refused it! Puzzled? Well, the Kapoor was apprehensive of the fact that a newcomer was to direct the film. We have observed that Anil has this newcomer-phobia. Some time back, he even refused the film that won him plaudits, ‘My Wife’s Murder’. The reason cited, 24 year old Jijy Phillip was a newcomer then.

He doesn’t take to new directors very easily, right, Anil? “I would be lying if I said no. But the reason is that, I have myself struggled so much that now after 15 years in this industry, you don’t like to be told how to act by a rank rookie. That’s the reason I am averse to newcomers but I must admit that Vivek like Jijy proved me wrong. I am very glad that I did the film because Vivek has made a film way beyond my expectations” informs Anil.

So did he enjoy the month long shoot in London? We believe they shot in December during the Christmas to capture the mood, “Absolutely, it almost worked as an incentive. I was keen on taking my wife and children for holidaying and the shoot commenced exactly then. So it was a perfect work-cum-pleasure atmosphere!” he smiles.
