Browse through the second half of the chitchat with the pout-princess where she talks about sex, skin and cinema…
Apart from Rakht, you have recently wrapped up Madhoshi. Interestingly, the film has a 9/11 theme. Can you give us a peak into the plot?
I play the role of Anupama. When she loses her sister to the 9/11 tragedy, it creates a dent in her. She now needs to find out the root cause of terrorism. The film then traces her journey where she meets people at different junctures in life.
You also star in Jaane Hoga Kya, a sci-fi film. Earlier this year, Rudraksh & Fun2shh…, both futuristic films failed at the box office. Where do you think we are going wrong?
I think we have both, the content and intelligent minds to craft it well. But when it comes to technology, we take a huge beating. Provided the infrastructure and the technical know-how, I see better futuristic films from India.
If I said, we are big on ideas but small on execution, would you agree?
Yes. That I do agree to that.
Madhoshi, Jaane Kya Hoga, Chehraa. Any other projects…
Yes, I am considering other offers as well. Once I comb out details, I will be in a better position to discuss it.
Jism was among the better skin flicks to come from India. What do you think about the current sex-and-skin explosion on Indian screen?
Indian audiences have only lately woken up to this brand of cinema. I wouldn't blame the girls who sign up these films because we all live in an age of instant fame; it's the same with directors too. And the producers are making some serious money. So, I think this is a question we need to address the audiences that, if they are so allergic to sex on screen, why are these movies running to packed houses.
Among the current crop of girls, who do you think carries skin with style?
Tough one. Hmm…let's see…not that I have seen too many recent releases, but can't seem to pick anybody who has taken the screen by storm. No…none really.
The Preeti Jain sex-scandal recently rocked headlines. What is your take on the casting couch syndrome?
I personally have never experienced it. Also, I strongly believe that the casting couch exists only when you want it to. If you are the kind who falls for a bargain so steep that, you need to compromise on yourself, then I certainly don't respect that woman.
John and you have an unmistakable chemistry. Jism was the only film that tapped it right. Apart from Madhoshi, any other films that will see your sizzling pair?
A good story and script is what is required to bring us together. Since that hasn't happened of late, I guess moviegoers will have to wait a little longer before they see us together.
Which is the John film that you have liked best?
Jism most definitely. And since he is a bike-freak and the film has my other favorite Abhishek, I am looking forward to Dhoom too.
Do we hear wedding bells anywhere soon?
No. Not for another 4 years atleast.
