Sitting pretty on the success of Girlfriend , glam doll Amrita Arora shares her experience of working in the Mahesh Manjrekar movie Rakht.
Describe your character in the film.
I play Natasha, a popstar. Fun and flamboyant, she's a bindaas babe. But she also has a dark side to her, which adds a layer of mystery to her character.
How was the experience of working with the Rakht team?
See, Rakht is a multi-character film. So, interacting with so many people was certainly a lot of fun. We used to talk, yak, drink and discuss together. Bahut acha mahaul tha.
How was director Mahesh Manjrekar to work with?
I am doing three films with Mahesh. So there's a comfort zone. Besides, he is a very passionate filmmaker. Needless to say, it was fabulous working with him.
Can you share some memorable movie moments with us?
Oh, there are lots of them. And now they are good memories in me. Dino is a dear friend. He's such a mischief-maker on the sets. So we had lot of pranks happening around. Bips, Neha, Dino, Sanju, all of us gelled very well and had good fun. It was always a party mood.
The music of the film has been creating waves. Which is your favorite track?
The film has a lot of variety in music. Each song is beautiful. But the track I like best is 'Jannat hai yeh zameen…' It's a soft, sensuous picturised on me.
What will you call the USP of the movie?
As you know, Rakht has a very vibrant starcast. Also, Mahesh is directing a thriller for the first time. I think this dual factor should be the highlight of the movie.
Like the title suggests, how bloody is Rakht ?
[Smiles] Nah…it's not as if its raining blood all over the movie. But yes, the movie being a thriller and the friction between the characters, leads to a fair amount of bloodbath.
How important is the movie to your career?
Oh, sure the movie is an important chapter in my career. I am eagerly looking towards its release and the consequent audience reaction.
What are the other projects you are currently working on?
Mahesh's Deh is ready for release. Same is the case with Team - The Force. There are a couple of other pipeline projects too.
What is your take on fashion in films?
Unlike earlier films where every single frame was extravagant, cinema today is much more real and in character. Personally, I like to keep my look as close as possible to character in terms of outfit and make-up. My fashion statement is very casual.
Any favorite designers?
Vikram Phadnis has to be my absolute favorite. JJ Valayya and Wendell Rodricks are the other designers whose work I identify with.
