Shilpa Shetty speaks about Khamosh

Deepak Tijori has commenced shooting of his new film KHAMOSH. A thriller starring Shilpa Shetty, Shawar Ali and Rajeev Singh in principal roles, an item number, 'Mera Tan Bola Mera Man Bola', which incidentally is the only song in this film is being picturised on Shilpa Shetty. This is the first time that Shilpa is enacting the role of a hi-society escort - a role she has never attempted before. In an exclusive interview to IndiaFM, Shilpa recollects how she had to do a lot of homework to do to get into the skin of the character.

Tell us something about your character in this movie.
I am playing the character of a very high society escort girl who is quite sophisticated and presentable. I accepted the script as soon as the director narrated the script to me because it's a kind of movie that has never been made before and Deepak's setting and presentation of the movie is so superb that even our audience would really enjoy the movie. The movie is a psychological thriller that revolves around six different characters and what happens to them in the course of one night. The movie seems to be very interesting and the character that I am playing in Khamosh is very different from what I have played before.

Tell us something about how different is it from your last few movies. Also tell us something about the song that has been picturised on you just before the interview.
The presentation of this movie is very realistic. It's not a musical film. But the movie has a superb background score, which indeed is an integral part of the script. The song that has been picturised on me just before the interview is a situational song that can be said to be the base of the film. This song is happens at an interesting juncture, which is the most important day in the life of this materialistic girl. This girl does something in the midst of this song and immediately after she leaves, her life takes a turning point.

As an actress, tell us something about your feelings regarding the movie.
We have just started shooting for the movie with this song. We shall start shooting the scenes from 13th May. The interesting aspect of the movie is that the shoot will be over within 30 days. Since we all are not shooting for five films at one time, all the characters in the movie will be very much involved in it's scripting providing the necessary crispness without switching the characters every now and then. The film happens only at nights and that necessitates the film to be shot only at nights. It's really different for me to work on a script like Khamosh.

You are doing few more movies other than Khamosh. Tell us something about the policy you adopt while selecting the movie. Is it more quality, less quantity based? Please comment.
Definitely. I lay a very conscious effort on selecting just quality-based movie. But it is indeed very difficult rejecting movies keeping in mind the best roles and interesting films that I am being offered at this stage of my career. I had initially decided to act in just two films in a year but as things stand by, I already have three to four films at hand .I definitely want to do things that justify me as a character. I really don't intend to typecast myself. The audience has been really kind to me and I have been receiving feedbacks from them regarding my good work.
