Akshay Kumar will be seen in the role of a rock star in Sunil Darshan's Mere Jeevan Saathi. He plays the role of Vicky while Amisha Patel plays his love interest.

In an interview to IndiaFM at Audeus studios at Andheri, Akshay Kumar talks about his role in the movie.

What is your role in the movie?
Mere Jeevan Saathi is basically a love story about three individual's obsession for each other. I am playing the character of a rock star.

Does the movie have a love triangle?
Yes. It's a love story and definitely has a love triangle to it.

You are playing the character of a rock star. So the music of the film has to be a crucial aspect of the film. Tell us something about the music of this movie.
I think Mere Jeevan Saathi has got wonderful music. The movie has about eight songs. The music is simply superb.

Tell us something about the situation of the song that has been picturised on you before this interview.
The situation is a flashback that depicts the college days roughly seven years ago.

The song has already been shot at other location before. Tell us something about why the same song has been reshot again?
Actually the title song has been repeated in this movie. The song that has been picturised now is the flashback song.

What made you sign Mere Jeevan Saathi?
Sunil Darshan makes the kind of films I love to do. That's the reason I prefer working with him.

What is so special about your role in the movie?
Actually I am thankful to Sunil for giving me such a wonderful role. The role I am playing in this movie is really a special one perhaps because I have never played a rock star before.

Tell us something about your experience playing a rock star?
Nothing new. It was just like performing for one of the stage shows.

Since the last few years, many stars have played negative characters. According to you what are the reasons for opting for a negative shade?
There's no specific reason for opting to perform a negative character. Actually it all depends on what the role is. I played a negative role in Ajnabee, which was quite different from a lighthearted role in Khakee. I opted for this role because I liked the character.

In today's age, where pirated VCDs and DVDs are easily available, it is really very difficult for a movie to complete its Golden jubilee. Andaaz has been one of the fortunate films that celebrated its Golden jubilee. What do you feel about it?
It is very rare for a movie to celebrate its Golden jubilee and I am very thankful to Sunil for giving to us a Golden jubilee movie. I am also thankful to Raj Kanwar.
