The mahurat shot of Guddu Dhanoa's next film starring Sunny Deol was held on Friday, April 30 at Hotel J.W.Marriott. Titled 'Dhool' (meaning dust), it is a remake of a Tamil film of the same name.
Producer of the film G.A.Sheshagiri Rao of Padmalaya Telefilms Limited (Aamdani Atthani Kharcha Rupaiya, Ishq Hai Tumse) gave the mahurat clap and Sunny gave the opening shot. A Tamil film by the same production house was launched on the same day in Chennai. IndiaFM caught up with the actor at the mahurat.
What is Dhool all about?
Dhool is a remake of a South film of the same name.
What is your role in the movie?
I play the role of a villager who comes to the city.
You generally stay away from remakes
Yes…I do. But I have done Indian earlier and I did love the story of this movie. So I signed this movie. This will be my second remake.
Why have you repeated Guddu Dhanoa for this venture?
I have a very good rapport with Gudduji and have done films with him earlier. He is a capable director to do this film. We share a good chemistry and know each other very well.
Have any changes been made to the original version?
We have retained the originality of the story while making only a few changes to suit the language. By making innumerable changes, we could have altered the core of the story.
Can you elaborate on the story?
The story revolves around villagers who come to city with their water problem in the hope to meet their political leader (who is connected to the same village) who could solve the same.
You are paired opposite two newcomers (Sameera & Bhumika) in the movie
I have worked with a lot of newcomers and I am an old comer now (laughs). The new comers are more professional and are more dedicated towards work.
There were talks earlier of you pairing along with Dharmendra and Bobby for a film. Any updates?
Yes…we would love to star together in a film. Let's hope it materialises.
You have been connected to Punjab. Any plans of acting in a Punjabi movie
Yes….may be in the future.
Any plans of joining the director's bandwagon
No. However, on the production front, we have two films, Deodhar Gandhi and Socha Na Tha, which should release in June and August respectively.
