Wah! Kya scene hain!
Tabu enters Bhumika Chawla's room with a bunch of plump women garbed in loud shimmering chiffons and begins to chat up all and sundry. A Cut! is called for.
Film critic turned director Khalid Mohammed takes yet another shot at direction with this Vashu Bhagnani film, Silsilay. Mohammed's fascination for women-oriented stories continues as the filmmaker spins a plot about three urbane women juggling their lives.
When we asked the maverick producer about his choice to back his project, the producer turned in with the simple reply, “Khalid's been a friend for long. I am constantly looking for different projects to add to my portfolio. So when Khalid thought of this script, I immediately decided to back it.”

Meanwhile we cornered Khalid who was busy setting up frame for the next shot. Primarily what is the film about? “The film is about the relationships that the three women try to straddle. On a deeper note, it is about a journey that they embark in search of their sexual identities ” he reveals. So what is the Riya Sen doing in the film? “Riya plays a 20 something PYT who lands up a job as a telephone receptionist. Jimmy and Ashmit are paired opposite her”
We spot Tabu flitting around the sets, a complete antithesis of her media-built image of being a recluse of sorts. So our obvious question was, What's Tabu's role like? “Tabu plays Rehana. She is married to a man who indulges in an extra-marital affair but chooses to overlook it but has to eventually head it on. The lady is marvelous,” he adds as he quickly excuses himself for the lighting of the frame that catches his eye.
Chawla chats…
Just as we are wrapping up with the spectacled director, our lens zooms in on Bhumika Chawla at the other end of the end. We approach Bhumika and must admit, it's rare to see the demure actress this excited. So what is the character you portray, we ask the flower-face, “Well, I play an actress who has 'arrived' on the film scene so to speak and her career seems all set for an upward spring.” her excited face tell us. How tricky is it to bring real life on to reel, we enquire. “Ah, it's challenging. That's the reason I took up the role in the first place” So what is the shot that's currently being canned? “This particular scene has me breaking up with my live-in lover Rahul Bose who is getting married to a Page 3 type,” she explains.
