“I like playing dark characters” - Shahwar Ali Click here to add this article to My Clips

By IndiaFM News Bureau, November 23, 2004 - 07:19 IST

Popular ramp model Shahwar Ali is the metrosexual face of urban India. After featuring in a string of commercials, Shahwar made his debut with Meghna Naidu starrer skin flick Hawas.

In an interview with IndiaFM, the star tells us about the film where he sports grey streaks as a married man who indulges in an illicit affair.

What made you do this role?
I always wanted to do dark characters. Roles with have grey shades have forever fascinated me. So when Rajesh offered me this character, I immediately took it up.

The title is bit hatke. Comment
You need to watch the film and will realize why the title perfectly blends with the subject. We couldn't have substituted it with anything else.

It is rumored that Ab Bas has hot scenes. Is it true?
You are mistaken. There is no sleaze in the film. Yes, as far as the intimate scenes go, they were a part of the script from the start and hence while executing them, we have kept the demands of the script in mind.

Tell us about your role
I play the role of a businessman. He is a very intense and a serious guy who has a powerful network. Also, he is a ziddi guy who will get what he wants. So, it was a great fun to play the character.

How did you get along with Diana?
To be frank, I had my reservations about Diana. Since she's been a Miss.World, I expected a lot of tantrums, but was pleasantly surprised to find none. We got along well and share a good on-screen chemistry.

Something about the music of the film
Well, the music is good. It's fast paced and peppy. We have two item numbers. One has been picturised on Nigar Khan while the other one is picturised on both of us. We also have two other romantic tracks to our credit.

Shahwar, you seem to be doing similar kind of roles. What do you have to say to that?
I do not agree to that. Be it Hawas, Ab Bas, or my forthcoming films like Khamosh and 99.9 FM, I have got to play different characters all along.
