Costume Cut
Priyanka Chopra cuts a simple picture in a blue-green salwaar-suit
Bipasha Basu is in a white-n-pink halter neck & ink blue denims
Scene I
Bipasha and Priyanka are having a conversation. The two are seated in a dimly lit apartment and are seen chatting. The scene is being monitored on a video TV. Suneel asks for a cut, not happy with the scene and they decide to redo it.
As the lighting and frame are being set again, we quickly get the director Suneel for some capsule quotes.
What lead to dropping Akshay out of the project? “Akshay's been a dear friend. I have worked with him in 6 films. But some date hassles cropped up and hence we had to relieve him.” According to Suneel, Barsaat is basically an emotional drama and the fresh casting has him pretty excited”
The frame is set. Priyanka has a long dialogue to mouth. She refers to her dialogue sheet a few times. A quick touchup for her lips and she's ready. They go for a retake.
Scene I (Re-take)
Bipasha darts the question and Priyanka answers her in a calm and composed manner. The shot is okayed.
Scene II
A room that looks similar to a small textile unit. It's a long shot with Bipasha and Priyanka entering the room while carrying on the conversation. Bipasha ill-times the push of the door.
Scene II (Re-take)
Bips gets it right this time round and the shot is canned.
We get the two beauties to give us a little dope about the film and their characters. Priyanka looks very much at ease playing the character, “I play Kaajal, a small-town girl who loves Bobby. I totally relate to Kajaal and her values. Also, the film is heavy-duty drama that is performance oriented” she says.
The Bong bombshell is next on our line of questions. “Aren't social dramas a bit dated for today's times?” She darts back saying, “ Do love stories go out of style, never! Ditto for social dramas too. It's an everyday emotion, and hence doesn't get stale. I think it's a safe bet!”
Kahani Poori Filmi Hain…
Priyanka Chopra plays a small-town girl Kajal while Bipasha is a high-society glam girl. Both fall in love with Bobby's character, who wants to make it big. He is a car designer by profession who wishes to fly abroad since his career prospects appear brighter in the west. Suneel Darshan, who is known for his social dramas weaves an emotional web around the three principal characters. The film has music by Nadeem-Shravan, a permanent fixture with Shree Krishna International.
Do you know...
* This is the second time Bobby Deol will feature in a film titled Barsaat. He debuted with Rajkumar Santoshi's Barsaat in 1995.
* Akshay Kumar himself landed on the sets of Barsaat on the first day of Bobby's shoot. And not only that, he even snapped the clapperboard for Bobby's first shot.
* Suneel had approached Arjun Rampal to essay the lead role in the film. Arjun not only demanded a crore, but also told the film-maker that he'd be able to shell out dates for the project in 2005. "It's up to me to quote what I feel is right. That's my prerogative," Arjun clarifies, "Similarly, it's up to the maker to accept or reject the demands that I make. That's his prerogative." And so both Suneel & Arjun parted ways…
Pssttt...
A suhaag-raat (wedding night) scene was also picturised between Bobby Deol and Priyanka Chopra.
