“Bewaafa is going to be a landmark film in my career!” - Kareena Kapoor

Shot of the day: It is a pre-climax scene that has Akshay Kumar performing a stage show. Kareena Kapoor in a stunning maroon sari is seated with Anil Kapoor while Manoj Bajpai is seated in the company of Shamita Shetty. They are playing the high-society glam pack of Delhi who have come to watch the show.
Set
Mounted on a huge canvas, it has Akki dressed in a black hood shirt and grunge jeans. Backing him are forty firang dancers.
Music
'Tu Hain Bewaafa…' is a track picturised on Akshay Kumar who plays a fusion musician. Music-duo Nadeem-Shravan have scored the music while Sonu Nigam has lent his vocals.
Dance
While Akki rehearses some energetic moves, the choreographer shouts steps and positions for the chorus dancers.
Scene I: Music begins to play. One Camera follows Khiladi Kumar perform, meanwhile a second camera focuses on the four stars. Dharmesh Darshan shouts out to Manoj and Shamita to throw a long glance at Kareena who is seated besides them. Shamita gets it right but Manoj goofs it up…
They go for a retake
Scene I: While Shamita and Manoj are giving their shot, Dharmesh instructs, “Kareena, look vulnerable. Steal a look at Manoj and Shamita. Now quickly look back”
The shot's been okayed
Scene II: The scene has a thoroughly disturbed Kareena hanging her face down. Anil talks to her intently and then a minute later whisks her out of the frame. Dharmesh calls for claps from the audience and asks Manoj to do a dramatic clap too.
The unit goes into a break
We met up with a visibly excited Kareena for a quick comment. The lady exclaims, “Bewaafa will be a landmark movie in my career. And irrespective of the fate of the film, it will always remain extra-special to me!”
Shamita Shetty who is heavily dolled up tells us that she is playing a grey character, “It's unlike the characters I have played earlier and I am really looking forward to the film.”
And finally we pose a few questions to the man himself, “Dharmesh, what is Bewaafa about?” The director says, “I am offering an entertaining, glamorous yet sensitive film to my audiences”
“After Karisma, how was it working with Kareena?” He replies back, “See, Kareena isn't Karisma, so I have tried to tone her differently. Audiences will be surprised to see a mature woman, not a predictable bubbly brat”
Highlights
- Boney Kapoor wanted to ideally shoot this song at India Gate but couldn't procure permission
- Akshay Kumar plays a Canadian singer, which explains the reason why he air dashed into Johannesburg for the IIFA awards and in an hours time was flying back to Canada for the song picturization.
- Anil Kapoor states that this is amongst the best roles he has played so far.
- Sushmita plays the role of Kareena's sister. She pitches in a special appearance.
- The film has a 11-min music track that's been sung by Ustad Ghulam Ali
- Dharmesh Darshan insists that though the film deals with extra-marital affair, the treatment is that of wholesome entertainment.
- The film is supposedly a remake of the 60's hit musical, Gumrah
