"Working with Manoj was a huge incentive" - Isha Koppikar

Hits, flops or average, Isha Koppikar welcomes each of them in her career. As the Gujju gal continues to juggle varied roles, IndiaFM catches up with the saucy sprite at the music launch of her latest release, Inteqam co-starring Manoj Bajpai and Nethra Raghuraman
You will be seen in full-fledged role in Inteqaam, so will you be doing an item number too?
Krishna Cottage, Girlfriend and Ek Se Badhkar Ek all had me in full-length roles. But there wasn't any item number per se. These special tracks arouse audience interest. Every film promo breaks open with a song. So, I guess we should stop bad-mouthing item numbers.
Give us your character?
I play the role of Avantika Suryavanshi. She is a celebrity writer. Riding on a successful career, she meets a cop, Manoj Bajpai and a psychoanalyst, Nethra Raghuraman. A series of murders strikes and the plot takes a turn from there on. It's a psychological thriller.
Is it borrowed from Basic Instinct?
According to me there is no one singular original piece of work. Every art draws its inspiration from somewhere. To answer your question, yes the two films do have certain similarities but if your question is whether it's a carbon copy, the answer is no.
The English counterpart was a very stylized product. Can we expect the same from your film too?
With a technician like Pankaj Parashar, you can be assured of a techno-savvy product. But if you looking for Hollywood standards from the film, you won't be going right, because we work in a different environment.
How was Manoj to work with?
I have always loved Manoj's work. He is a fabulous teacher. One can learn a lot from him. Working with him was one of the biggest incentives that got me to do the film.
Do comment on the soundtrack
Being a thriller, there isn't too much scope for songs. However I have two songs picturised on me. One is a colorful Holi number. And I think I am lucky to have Saroj Khan choreograph my track.
