“I hope to recreate the 'Karisma-Dharmesh Darshan' magic in Bewaafa” - Kareena Kapoor Click here to add this article to My Clips

By IndiaFM News Bureau, October 25, 2004 - 07:37 IST

Chameli, Dev,Yuva, Fida and it's still raining films in Kareena's kitty. Come hits or blows, the gorgeous gal continues to march ahead with the best banners, pockets the fattest pay cheques and has men go Fida on her.

IndiaFM tracks the spunky actress to Film City where she is currently shooting for Dharmesh Darshan's Bewaafa. Looking stunning in a beet color sari is Kareena, who takes out time for some quick quotes.

You are playing a mature character in Bewaafa. How did you tackle the role?
The role has been a challenge. I play a young mother of two kids. Besides it's my first full-fledged onscreen sari appearance. My character in Bewaafa is going to shock people. I hope Dharmeshji recreates the 'Karisma-Dharmesh Darshan' magic in Raja Hindustani for me too!

Raja Hindustani resurrected your sister's career. Any such expectations from Bewaafa?
While filming Raja Hindustani, I used to be this eager kid in jeans and t-shirt watching Karisma. Constantly wondering when I too would be in front of the camera! And here I am working with the same director. So irrespective of the fate of the film, Bewaafa is going to be extra special to me!

How's Akshay to work with?
Akki's a dear friend. Have already worked with him in 5 films. We get along absolutely fine!

A memorable moment in Bewaafa that you recollect…
The entire experience of working for the film has been memorable. Raja Hindustani like you said was a turning point in Karisma's life. Bewaafa is going to be a landmark film in my career too!

Can you count us your forthcoming films?
There's Aitraaz this Diwali. Following in line is Hulchul. Bewaafa comes next and then you have Satish Kaushik's Milenge Milenge.

Are you happy with the way your career has shaped up?
Absolutely. There's nothing more I could have asked for. I have worked with the best banners. There's hardly anybody in the industry that I haven't worked with. It's a God-sent opportunity.

Is there a conscious effort to balance parallel and popular cinema?
For sure, it feels wonderful to do radical roles like one in Chameli & Fida. Or a Dev and a Yuva. And now a thriller like Aitraaz and a comedy like Hulchul.

So is it going to be all work and no play for Kareena?
I guess so. I am all of 24 and I would definitely like to work for atleast another 6-7 years.
