Hailing from a family of artists, Sabbir Khan was born and raised in Bombay, the heart of the Indian film industry. The grandson of a musician and the son of a famous poet/songwriter for late 1960's Bollywood films, Sabbir Khan grew up with a deep passion for movies.
After graduating from college, Sabbir began dabbling in advertising copy writing before entering the film industry. He began by assisting master film directors like Mahesh Bhatt and David Dhawan on various successful films such as Dastak, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi and Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya. Sabbir also began directing major music videos simultaneously.
In the summer of 2007, he began writing his first screenplay (Kambakkht Ishq). Producer Sajid Nadiadwala immediately saw the potential in this young filmmaker and signed him on. Major stars Akshay Kumar & Kareena Kapoor were attached to the project instantly. Sabbir began his directorial debut in Los Angeles, California in June 2008.
The film is expected to hit cinema halls this summer and the first promos have already generated tremendous buzz. To know all about Kambakkht Ishq and what went behind its making, here's presenting a special 'first of its kind' Kambakkht Ishq blog by director Sabbir Khan himself only on Bollywood Hungama.com |
