Kusar Prasad ka Bhoot in Bhopal
Thursday, June 5, 2008
Hey guys,

First of all, thanks for your replies on my blog. Thanks Priya, Satish for your kind words, and Satish you can contact me on my email id robby@rediceindia.com, and we can discuss whatever ideas you have…Assad the experience of shooting 'Allo Chaat' was absolutely fantabulous. Faiz the reason we shot 'Kusar prasad ka Bhoot' in Bhopal would honestly be really clear to you once you see the film, and guys I would putting up the pics of 'Allo Chaat' very shortly.

The last two months have been whirl wind of sorts. They have been absolutely crazy, fun and involved a sense of discovery for me. Let's begin with the discovery bit first. Discovery on a personal note of a city called Bhopal. What a god damn city!!!(I mean it in a good way). When I was on the flight to Bhopal (it was my first visit), Bhopal was in my head, a bustling crowded city, sort of a mini metro which would be struggling between its old world charm and a wave of modernization, and loosing the essence of both.

But how wrong was I. Just the drive from the airport to the hotel changed my opinion and how. Bhopal is surely the cleanest, and of the prettiest city in our country. Imagine a city with no traffic jams (yes it is still a possibility), a tranquil easiness in the air, the whole city centered around a very pretty lake, (apparently the third largest in the country), and populated by people who have a certain sense of calmness about them. Wow! What a city.

Moving over to the reason why I was there, the filming of 'Kusar Prasad ka Bhoot', it was really memorable in more ways then one, and we were a lot of us there to enjoy this fun ride. We were close to 235 of us baking in the most natural oven ever possible. Imagine some of the tasks involved changing a dry mountainous rock bed into a lake, filling gallons and gallons of water in it, and then taking all of it out, Shooting in the most challenging terrains. This film for me was by far the most difficult production I have ever had. We had on an average one person falling sick everyday, and a few fainted as well along the way, I guess you guys are wondering all this seem more like a punishment, but believe you me, it was the spirit of entire unit which made all this real fun. We had a wonderful bunch of professional actors who once didn't complain and special word of praise for the most understated bunch of technicians, the lighting crew. They actually are on the sets hours before the other team members arrive and possibly work the hardest, and get the minimum recognition. Kudos to them!!! I must also mention a small little village we shot in called Dahod, besides being really pretty and all that, there was this small little interesting architectural trivia which was interesting. The Village Square was surrounded by two mosques and three temples around it, and the way they live together (Hindus-Muslims), defines the prototype of a small little perfect India for me.

Moving on to my other film 'Allo Chaat', the post production work is in full swing. So the next one month for me is going to be all about shuttling between edit suites, sound studios and labs. Post production is more about organized chaos, as compared to the un-organized chaos which the shooting of a film entails. Both these facets of filmmaking go hand in glove which makes the process of filming ones thoughts on celluloid a wonderful experience.

I have been guilty of not updating my blog on regular intervals, and I surely intend to change that in the future. Thanks for your inputs and take care.

Cheers!!!

Right from his memorable school days, Robby always knew one thing - he was never going to have this much fun ever again. After graduation, he was quite clear that he needed a career that would consume him. It had to be more than work.

It was at that juncture where a successful break in television became the stepping-stone towards an exciting journey ahead. It was at this stage when he decided to set up Red Ice Films, a production house producing high quality television commercials and features films. At 27 Robby made his first film – Samay. Followed by producing Yahaan, which was shot in Kashmir. In between producing and directing feature films, there was always going back to his first love ‘ad films’ then came his directorial Mp3 –Mera Pehla Pehla Pyar, a film about the adolescent growing up years

Next on the cards is a film called Aloo Chaat of which the principal shooting has just been wrapped up, and going on the floors on the April 16. It is a film tentatively titled Khusar Prasad Ka Bhoot.
