Sometimes when you don't know what to write about is when you write the best ! I wrote my last blog a wile ago, and since then I’ve been pretty busy, with what ? Well, I’m working on 2 scripts myself, which is rather tough, because one kills you, two is just murder ! What happened is I liked one subject, got stuck on it at a point, so to distract myself I started writing something else and fell in love with that subject too, hopefully I’ll end up with two good scripts or in another scenario, one and a half scripts or dare I say it , get stuck in both and start work on a completely different script. Scripting is the most lonely part of filmmaking, but very very satisfying too. So you can see the anxiety we filmmakers go through right from the conception of an idea till the Friday of the release of the film, and then all it takes is 3 hours to decide our fate !
My show on Zee TV, where I’m once again being seen as a judge started last weekend, Ek Se Badhkar ek, Chota packet Bada Dhmaka, The name is as long as the drive I gotta take to shoot the show in a studio in bhayander, just outside the Mumbai check naka, but I either read on my way there or watch a movie and time flies. The show has 16 kids in 2 teams, one a singer, one a performer, and Anuu Kapoor, Rakhi Sawant and me are the judges. Quite a strange mix of personalities, I must say so myself. Honestly I’m enjoying the show more than I expected to, the kids are super talented, Annuji’s knowledge of music and Rakhi’s madness are truly entertaining. A promise to my viewers, I will not let this reality show, become a ‘fake’ reality show like so many others on TV today ! The innocence of the kids will hopefully take care of that, and I’d also like to try and teach the parents and the kids that it’s the taking part that matters and not only the winning, something that most parents seems to have forgotten and something that puts unfair pressure on the kids today.
A lot of people are criticizing Reality shows where kids take part, but don't kids take part in inter-school competitions too that are as competitive as any reality shows ? What needs to be done is the spirit of taking part in a talent show needs to be highlighted more than winning or losing. Lets not forget that a talent show gave us Sunidhi Chauhan who was also a child then. Talent shows are a nice platform for people to showcase their talent, what we need to ensure is that they don't put pressure on anyone in the process, we don't need to ban them or take such knee jerk reactions, otherwise tomorrow someone will say ban inter school competitions or exams as well due to the pressures they put on children. |
