With just a few days left for my release I decided to travel across India to meet the press. What happens is that most of the time we are only interacting with the media of the city we live in and sadly ignore the rest of the country, only occasionally speaking to them on phone when they happen to call for a sound bite or a telephonic interview. We never get the chance to meet them, talk to them, interact with them, they are also sometimes forced to only take stories from their Bombay bureaus and use them, instead of having their own interaction. My first stop in my Bharat Darshan was the pink City Jaipur.
Just my drive to the Rambagh Palace and I was in love with Jaipur. I've always been fascinated by the forts and palaces of Rajasthan, the history behind each road, the stories behind each fort, each palace. I've always admired the Rajasthani women for their valor and strength maintaining their dignity with an admirable shyness under their 'pallus'. I know it's a rare combination of words to describe a woman, but the Rajasthani woman is so all that, that she commands instant respect.
My day in Jaipur was filled with visits to various Radio Stations, meeting with a mad in a fun way bunch of RJ's, enthusiastic Station Managers, and really pepped up teams, all proud of their stations and the work they're doing, all fiercely competitive with the other stations and all so warm to me and so happy to see me in their Radio Stations. I spoke at length to each radio station and had the most wonderful interactions with them. I had lunch with some journalists; tea with others and had a lot of fun with them. We chatted about films in general, my films, music, Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic, and basically had an interaction that was new for us both, they told me how most people just had a press conference and would leave, the one on ones I was doing were so interactive, frank and warm.
I'm now looking forward to going to Indore, Delhi, Chandigarh, Kolkatta, Lucknow and Bangalore to meet the press and through them meet everyone across the country.
As my release nears, the tension builds up, the sleep vanishes, the hope increases …all we need is Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic! |
