This is Mugdha Godse and you are watching me on the Production Blog of Jail, only on Bollywoodhungama.com
Even when I worked with Madhur Bhandarkar in his film Fashion, he never took my audition. He always told me that he never believed in auditions as he always sees the person and if he feels that if the person can fit in the role, he casts that person. When I met Madhurji, he asked me 'Would you like to do Jail with me?' And I was like 'Sir…what are you saying!' He said that it's a deglamorised role and it will be something good and different for you. I simply said 'Sir, you don't have to tell me ...I am ON!'
The whole experience of working with Madhurji is something else only. Since it's my second film, with him, I kind of knew his traits. I knew what kind of a jovial man that he is, which is in total contrast of his serious films. I was totally aware of the fact that he is a fun-loving person, hence, there had to be lots of masti and dhamaal on the sets. I simply went on the sets and had a ball!
My character of Mansi Pandit is a very simple girl, who is a typical girl-next-door kind of girl, who is an air hostess by profession. She has just joined her job and has a boyfriend too. They are a happy-go-lucky kind of couple, till one day her boyfriend has a brush with the law. Its all about how everybody's lives takes 360 degrees turn after that. The film's not just about a victim who gets affected when 'jail' happens to him, but also about the people connected with the victim and how their lives change forever.
I show a thread of emotion, love, strength and hope in the film. I have never visited a jail in my life. Even the jail which they visited happened to be a men's jail, whereby no woman was allowed. I saw some documentaries, DVDs and also read some books to get some knowledge about the jail and its functioning.
When Madhurji had told me not to apply make up, I found it very strange and incomplete without the make up. I got very worried and concerned about my skin. That's why I applied make up on the first day of my shoot. Madhurji saw me and told me to instantly take it off. Even otherwise, I have cried so much in the film, that even if I had applied make up, everything would have got washed away!
Speaking of music, my favourite song in the film is 'Kabse Tha Judaa... ' It's a very nice, soft, emotionally romantic number.
As far as my co-star Neil is concerned, he is a very cool and dedicated seasoned co-star, with whom I thoroughly enjoyed working. And if your co-star is good, then, you enjoy your work greatly. I was really happy working with him. We got along really well. We created few and nice intense scenes, most of which we shot without using glycerine.
Overall, my Jail experience was fantastic. It's a very emotional film to me as this is my second film that I am doing with Madhur Bhandarkar. It's a total de-glam role, something that I had never done before. So, it's very close to my heart. Do go and watch Jail on 6th November.
In a world where freedom of speech and expression reigns supreme, lies a four letter word which is universally considered to be a big taboo. The word in question is 'JAIL', which, for some, may not be just a word, but a 'sentence'. Jail also happens to be the realistic director Madhur Bhandarkar's latest offering to the cinegoers. It's a film which stars the supremely talented Neil Nitin Mukesh alongwith Mugdha Godse, Manoj Bajpai and others.
Bollywood Hungama brings to you the production blog of this film; whereby its stars literally come down to speak their hearts out, exclusively to our readers. Sit back, relax and enjoy the Jail experience.
